Apple now selling Nike+ FuelBand in the U.S.,
Canada, and U.K.

Nike is announcing that its popular Nike+ FuelBand will be sold on Apple Stores nationwide, as well as in Canada and the U.K. Additionally, two new colors have been added into the list of options. Now users of the Nike+ FuelBand can also enjoy Black Steel and Black Ice colors apart from the already-existing Black Steel and limited edition Ice. Launched earlier this year, the Nike+ FuelBand is designed to capture different metrics such as time, calories, and steps.

It tracks the activity of the user on a daily basis and assigns a score called NikeFuel for the finished activities. There’s also a Nike+ FuelBand mobile app that’s designed for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and 4, as well as the iPod touch. The app will basically reveal one’s progress overall and compare those results with their friends who are also using the app. You can also get the Nike+ FuelBand online for $149.95.

Kickstarter launches in the U.K.

Kickstarter, the popular crowd-funding website for innovative and creative projects, is branching out in the U.K. In an interview with BBC, Kickstarter co-founder Yancey Strickler said that one of the most requested features it has received so far is to expand internationally. Strickler then broke the news that the company has plans of expanding its business to other countries. “We certainly are interested. We’re going to see how the UK launch goes and figure out the next moves from there. There’s a lot of places that will be interesting,” he added.

Since it launched in 2009, Kickstarter has reportedly raised more than $340 million and more than 70,000 projects. One of the most successful projects to debut on the site is Ouya, a new video gaming console, which raised $8,596,474. While there are also other similar crowd-funding websites in the U.K., none of them can really par Kickstarter’s record. Borderlands Legends now available on iOS

It was just last week when Borderlands Legends for iOS was revealed in a leaked ad. Following the official announcement last week that the game will be arriving on iOS anytime soon, 2K Games is now announcing that the mobile game is now available for the iPhone, the iPod touch, and the iPad. Beginning today, iOS users can download the game via the iTunes App Store for $4.99 on the iPhone and $6.99 on the iPad.

Borderlands Legends is both an action-RPG and strategy game that will surely bring tons of fun and enjoyment. The game allows players to control their favorite hunters while fending off relentless waves of Skags, Bandits, Psychos, Bruisers and other enemies. The game also features intuitive, touch-based commands for better control and an easy to navigate menu system. It has a random set of maps, weapons, shields and utilities to purchase, and dozens of skills and abilities to unlock.

Archos 80 Cobalt Android tablet announced

French consumer electronics company Archos is introducing another Android tablet to join its line-up. It’s the Archos 80 Cobalt tablet. Tipping the scales at 470g while measuring just 12mm thick, the tablet sports an 8-inch display with a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. The Archos 80 Cobalt is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor with a quad-core GPU.

It also has a 1GB RAM, an 8GB flash storage, and an micro SDHC slot that can store up to 64GB. Other features include a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Availability and pricing has yet to be announced. It’s important to note that the Archos 80 Cobalt tablet was already spotted at the FCC earlier this year.

Netherlands to install heated bike paths for
winter

Few towns in Netherlands are reportedly considering heating their bike paths, now that winter is coming. According to the local news publication De Telegraaf, a group called Dutch Cyclists Union are deeply interested in installing underground pipes on their pavements to keep them accessible and usable for the public. Heated bike paths will not only mean that the pavements are snow-free, it will also reduce road accidents and encourage more people to ride their bikes on what is considered to be the bicycle capital of the world.

Among the towns in Netherlands considering the ingenious plan are Utrecht and the town of Zutphen. The estimated cost, should the project continue, is estimated to be around $25,000 to $50,000 per kilometer. Explaining the reason for the high expenses involved, Marcel Boerefijn of the engineering firm Tauw said that the underground pipes will have to be installed 50 meters down. Once they are installed, the pipes will remain there all year round and will collect and store heat generated during the summer season.

Metal Gear Rising pre-order editions for the UK
revealed

Gamers if you were planning on picking up Metal Gear Rising, it seems that Konami has revealed several pre-order editions available for gamers in the UK. We?re not sure if these editions will be made available for those living stateside, but until we hear otherwise, it looks like it is only available for the UK market. There will be three pre-order editions available for purchase ? the Limited Edition version, the Render Steelbook Edition, and a Shinkawa Edition.

Starting with the Limited Edition, this edition will come in a steelbook cover along with a White Raiden figurine which can be posed in different positions. Next up is the Render Steelbook Edition which basically comes in a different case, minus the figurine. Last but not least is the Shinkawa Edition which features a highly detailed steelbook case. No word on how much these pre-order editions will cost, but they are expected to go on sale starting from Feb 22^nd 2013.
