The HTC Amaze 4G was only announced a few days ago and slated for an October 12th release date, but it looks like the phone has already started arriving in stores. The folks over at TmoNews recently got their hands on some photographs showing the phone in its full glory, together with its retail packaging. No videos of the phone in action yet, but I’m pretty sure those will surface soon enough.
The HTC Amaze 4G is one beast of a phone, packing a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, a 4.3″ qHD display, NFC, Android 2.3.4, HSPA+ 42 connectivity, 8-megapixel camera and more. The phone will go on sale for $259.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a 2-year contract. Head over to the source link to check out more photographs of the device. Anybody picking this up when it goes on sale?

According to reports online, it looks like Sony will be placing limits on the size of files that can be downloaded with the PlayStation Vita over 3G: a 20MB limit. This means that users won’t be able to download games from the PlayStation store when they’re not connected to WiFi (well, triple A titles at least ? I’m sure none of them will be that small). Downloads over 3G will probably be restricted to downloading Minis, system updates and probably the occasional casual game.
Well for those of you with unlimited 3G data plans and crying foul over the cap ? this limit could be increased or removed in the future, but know that the 20MB limit will be in place during the Vita’s launch. Seeing how expensive most data plans are in the States, I doubt people will be using their 3G connection to download games anyway. What do you think of the cap for downloading files over 3G, does it bother you? Or were you planning on getting the WiFi-only Vita in the first place?

In the wake of HP’s fire sale for the TouchPad, it looks like yet another tablet will be given a price reduction to encourage sales. This time around it’s the HTC Flyer, thanks to the folks over at Best Buy. It has been reported that starting tomorrow, October 1st, Best Buy outlets will be reducing the price of the HTC Flyer from $499 to $299. That’s $200 off, similar to what the BlackBerry PlayBook has been getting. Then again, it’s not like we didn’t see this coming.
Since the HTC Flyer was released, it hasn’t really made an impact on the tablet world, with hardly anybody even talking about it. Probably the fact that it was a 7″ device running on Android 2.3 had something to do with it. Let’s not forget the overpriced stylus that added notable functionality to the tablet.
With tablets receiving price cuts here and there, is the iPad going to be the only tablet that can actually fly off shelves with a $499 price tag? How many of you will be picking up the HTC Flyer after the price reduction?

If you’re a hardcore fan of Metal Gear Solid and you’re thinking of picking up the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection when it is released later this year, boy do we have some good news for you. Konami has just announced a limited edition of this HD Collection, and it comes with a couple of additional goodies for the hardcore Metal Gear Solid fan. In addition to the Metal Gear Solid games (Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker) updated with HD visuals, the limited edition version features specialized packaging created by the series’ lead artist, Yoji Shinkawa; and an exclusive 248-page art book titled The Art of Metal Gear Solid. Oh, and it will be limited edition, so it’ll probably be worth a lot of dollars in the future if you decide to sell it.
While Konami didn’t announce a price or a release date, the regular version of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will cost $49.99, and Amazon has the limited edition version priced at $79.99 with a release date of November 8th. Any takers?
