The LG L206WU 20" LCD monitor certainly isn't a miser when it comes to the choice of connectivity options. Boasting an integrated USB-B port that let's you use it as a seconday display, the L206WU also comes with a couple of other USB-A ports that function as a hub, and you can even daisy chain up to half a dozen of similar L206WU monitors at once for visual overkill. The L206WU is also quite the gymnast, featuring a retractable stand that can be adjusted up to 14cm and a rotating display (up to 90 degrees). Response time stands at an impressive 2ms, making this suitable to watch fast paced action movies and for intense gaming sessions.

Don Dunklee has forked out approximately $3,300 and invested at least 80 hours into building this solar powered scooter that comes with foldable solar panels located at the sides of the back seat. Don Dunklee himself takes his invention on a 10 miles roundtrip as he commutes to and fro work. A total of four 30-watt solar panels soak up the sun while he is working in order to keep the green vehicle juiced up. I'm sure this idea will catch on in the future when the design has been refined to appeal to a younger audience.

Keeping track of students and patients at schools and hospitals can be quite a formidable task, which is why Siemens is currently pushing a complete system that can track both objects and people within a wireless network, thanks to the synergy created by blending both the functions of RFID tags and WiFi connectivity. Sounds pretty interesting and could be a potential life saver in the event of an emergency or fire, but there is an uncomfortable feeling attached while wearing the RFID tag as one would feel being watched all the time. While having students wear this in school could reduce the number of truant cases, I seriously doubt that they would welcome such a system with open arms.

SmartHomeUSA has its range of Smart Strip power strips that ultimately aims to help use as little energy as possible, keeping the earth green while saving you some money in the process. The concept is simple yet interesting - your computer is plugged into the master outlet, while all the other peripherals are hooked up into slave outlets. The Smart Strip is capable of detecting whether your computer is turned on or on, cutting off power to the peripherals when the computer is off. Already great as a surge protector on its own, the money and power saving aspects of the Smart Strip certainly makes this one of the better buys around. Prices range from $24.95 to $36.95 depending on the model number.

You're getting on in your age, your pot belly is growing at an alarming rate, and you tend to forget where your house keys are. With numerous pills to pop daily, remembering all of them can be a pain. The Vitality Cap simplifies this daily activity by glowing to give a visual reminder. In addition, it is smart enough to email you to take your pills as well as contact your pharmacist for a refill. Sounds pretty high tech and all, but are the older generation prepared for such an advanced solution? I personally think they'd prefer to stick to the traditional pill box that comes with the days printed on each cover. Pricing details vary, so you'll have to contact Vitality for more information.

Designer Yong Jieyu has cobbled together an image of the CD Phonograph, marrying the old and the not-so-new into a single device. All it takes is a disassembled CD player along with rearranged components to suit the layout of a phonograph. Speakers are located just below the trumpet loudspeaker for amplification purposes. While the CD Phonograph certainly gets top marks for effort, this is a case of being late to the party as everyone else has already moved on to portable audio players and the like.

Transferring your entire CD library into MP3 format can be a painstaking and time consuming task, especially when you have 80GB worth of hard drive space on your iPod to fill up. The iLoad device takes its design cues from the Mac mini and rips audio from CDs (and subsequently DVDs) to transfer them to your iPod without going through all the hassle on a computer. The iLoad enables you to choose selected tracks to be copied, ripping quality, and the ability to download artist and track info as well as album covers over a network. Compatible with 3G iPods upwards, the iLoad also doubles up as a backup device that stores your iPod's content on an external hard drive or even another iPod. The jury is out on whether this is worth 299 clams or not.

Samsung has just announced the YP-EP3 flash-based MP3 player in China, throwing yet another USB stick form factor MP3 player into the fray. Details on the E3 are rather scant, with confirmation of only its capacity (1GB) and colors (black and white). The E3 is expected to come with an OLED screen that displays up to four lines of text in two different colors, making more sense when it comes to displaying lyrics. Other features include an integrated FM radio and Samsung's very own DNSe sound enhancement technology. The E3 measures 2.85” x 0.91” x 0.47" and comes with 11 hours of continuous playback time before running out of juice.
