Overclocking record : 5.1Ghz for the Core 2 Quad

Overclocking record : 5.1Ghz for the Core 2 Quad Q6600

The folks at BestofMedia, the parent company of TomsHardware have set a new overclocking world record by pushing a Core 2 Quad Q6600 (65nm) normally running at 2.4Ghz to 5.11218Ghz, which is a new record. They have been using liquid nitrogen cooling (-41°C) and have spend a fair amount of time finding the best voltage setting. Multipliers details here. Video from bestofmedia. This setup is not practical for a real-life use, but you should know that overclockers have pushed the Q6600 to 3.5Ghz or even 4Ghz for a real-world usage. Do it at your own risk, of course…

Zero-G Watch from Tokyoflash

Zero-G Watch from Tokyoflash

Tokyoflash has yet another watch to adorn your hand with a piece of style - the Zero-G. This timepiece comes in a sleek and slender profile, featuring a mirrored LCD face that points to the hour just like how any other analog watches do. In addition, it comes with a segmented curve around the edges to mark the minutes. It will take slightly more practice to tell the time, but at least this is one of the easiest Tokyoflash offerings to decipher to date. The Zero-G will come in black or silver colors and tips the scales at a mere 60 grams. It will retail for approximately $98 if you plan to import one.

USB/In-Car Back Massager

USB/In-Car Back Massager

Sitting down in front of your office desk all day long can be quite stressful on your back, which is why there is the USB/In-Car Back Massager that can be powered by a cigarette lighter in your vehicle or via an available USB port at the office. Of course, I would recommend getting a couple of you find this to be effective since you don't have to tote it to and fro your vehicle, making you look rather silly in the process. The massager comes with kneading, tapping, shiatsu, and rolling modes to suit your fancy, and you can choose between low, medium, and high intensity settings. £39.99 is definitely a much cheaper price to pay compared to a qualified masseuse who might engage you in a session of STD roulette if you lower your guard.

PS3 Firmware 2.42 Now Available

PS3 Firmware 2.42 Now Available

PS3 owners, there is a new firmware for you to download - version 2.42 is now available, but it doesn't look like anything major was thrown into the fray. Apparently, the official stand on this firmware would be "This update improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software." Sorry, don't expect any groundbreaking features here, but at least it has not yet burnt as spectacularly as the previous firmware release.

Handy Robotic Hand

Handy Robotic Hand

The Handy robotic hand is now readily available to lend a, er, helping hand when we need it, especially in domestic tasks like "washing, hammering, painting, digging, and kneading." I guess our imagination's the limit, but something tells me that the more perverse side of human nature would keep the Handy pretty well lubed for their own personal use. Handy is equipped with USB and MIDI ports, and boasts wireless connectivity to hook up with iPods, keyboards and compatible computers. I suppose you could use one of these to hold your cell phone in the car for an alternative hands-free experience.

Buffalo Refutes Rumor

Buffalo Refutes Rumor

Word is out that Buffalo has taken an official stance with regards to news that they will be supplying replacement 32GB and 64GB SSDs for upcoming Asus Eee PC 901s when September rolls around. In addition, the Japanese company has remained tight-lipped about read and write speeds, since they claim that both SSDs are currently undergoing a testing phase. Guess the €90 and €175 price tags for the 32GB and 64GB models won't carry any water at this point in time since we'll have to wait until the official press release.
