Concept: IMC Meets Howest Solar Notebook Design

Worried that you won't be able to keep your notebook juiced when you're on your week-long camping trip? The "IMC meets Howest" concept claims to be the first ever notebook that harnesses solar energy and runs on just two solar cells. With such a design, as long as you're willing to bake yourself (and the notebook) in the searing hot sun, you shouldn't have to worry about looking for a power source. Sounds like a good idea, though it'll be interesting to see how continuous exposure to the sun will affect the durability of the notebook.

Rumor: Apple SIM Card In The Works

This is still very much a rumor at this point but word is going around that Apple is working with SIM card manufacturer Gemalto to design a special SIM card that is capable of working with any carrier. If the rumors are true, then the SIM card is designed as a means to weaken carriers' hold on the device manufacturer while allowing consumers more choice when it comes to carriers. With the new mechanism, users will be able to purchase an iPhone from the online Apple Store directly and activate the phone easily. Of course, such a device would still need to take into account the different types of networks that carriers use, but it's an interesting idea.

Don't Hook Your Kinect Up If You Received It Early

This could be an important warning to Kinect purchasers out there. If you happened to receive your Kinect and copy of Kinectimals early, you might want to keep it away from your Xbox console for the moment. While it's hard to resist the urge to hook it all up immediately, some folks out there have had some bad experiences with it. Reports are in that when you first hook it up, the Xbox prompts you for an update to the new Dashboard, which surprisingly offers the console to an update that isn't the most recent. After that, when trying to sign into Xbox Live, your system will tell you that it needs to be updated again, but the update isn't available on the servers and as such will fail, and without that, you won't be able to sign into Xbox Live, not a very happy ending to be honest. With the Kinect set to go official on November 4th, hopefully this issue will be resolved by then.

T-Mobile Delaying The Arriving Of 200MB Data Plan?

Word is going around that T-Mobile has put its 200MB data plan launch on hold for the moment, though a specific reason for the delay wasn't mentioned. Speculation is that it might be related to the backend of the system or a possible revamp, but the reason isn’t set in stone just yet. If you've been looking forward to a cheap data plan from T-Mobile such as this, you might have to wait a little while longer, though hopefully not too long.
