The Keyglove that you see here is definitely not just a futuristic looking piece of fashion to keep your fingers nice and warm during the bitter cold of winter, but it is also an open-source portable Arduino/AVR-powered glove which relies on the touch combinations for keys as well as an accelerometer for the mouse in order to generate keyboard and mouse control codes with but a single hand. Upon learning it, the glove can be used in a jiffy without having to look at it, making it ideal for embedded/wearable environments. The glove itself is thin and light, where it was specially constructed to enable activities such as writing to happen without being cumbersome. It right now requires $10,000 to kick start as a project, and with 27 days to go as at press time and a mere 13 backers with $365 pledged, it still has some ways to proceed before entering reality.

Developers and users, you will be well pleased to hear that the Android Market In-app Billing has just launched, which means one is able to publish apps that rely on In-app Billing, while letting your users purchase stuff from within an app. Of course, if you’re a developer, you would do well work on a piece of software that will entice folks to come back over and over again, while creating money out of nothing so to speak – after all, with some of the more insane real world dollars being exchanged for virtual items in MMORPGs, who are we to say that the same phenomenon won’t spill over into the Android platform? Other more stoic business models include upgrades and different billing models of your app. Among the apps that will launch with Android Market In-app Billing include Tap Tap Revenge by Disney Mobile; Comics by ComiXology; Gun Bros, Deer Hunter Challenge HD, and WSOP3 by Glu Mobile; and Dungeon Defenders: FW Deluxe by Trendy Entertainment.

It looks like Amazon is already facing the ramifications of their barely one-day-old Cloud Player service. It has been reported that Amazon launched their cloud-based music service without obtaining the required licenses to run such a service. Obtaining these licenses have been the main hindrance to Amazon’s competitors’ cloud music services and Amazon choosing to ignore them allowed the company to beat them to the punch. While it was a brave move on their part, they’ll have to face the music now. It wasn’t mentioned which record labels were upset (presumably all of them), and what actions will be taken, but let’s hope it won’t lead to the discontinuation of this highly convenient media streaming service. How many of you have already started using Amazon Cloud Player?

If you’re feeling lonely and have nobody to chat with on Gtalk, Google might have the solution for you. They have just launched the Google Talk Guru, the official chat bot on their instant messaging service. While the Talk Guru won’t reciprocate feelings of loneliness or sympathy, what it will do is answer any questions you have and you need to know the answers to right away. All you have to do is add guru@googlelabs.com to your Gtalk contact list and ask away. Questions have to be specifically worded though. For example, if you’d like to know the weather in Paris, key in “weather Paris” and hit enter. Talk Guru will give you the answer you’re looking for. In the meantime it’s the mister know-it-all of what you want to know, maybe in the future Google will give it the ability to feel “emotions” and talk to you like how a normal person would. Head here to find out more about Google Talk Guru.

What do you do when the kids or crows in your neighborhood are no longer afraid of your rock pelting slingshots? You bring out the big guns of course. And by big guns I mean the machete-tossing slingshot. A hobbyist named Joerg Sprave recently came up with this hell-raising weapon, and despite being made of mostly wood, it’s going to be something you’ll have trouble bringing through airport security. This rifle shaped slingshot/crossbow hybrid weapon doesn’t fire the regular ammo you’re used to seeing being shot out of kids’ toys. It fires a real full-sized machete with such force that it looks like it’s capable of causing serious harm. Though something tells me you won’t have a lot of ammo for this weapon lying around the house, and reloading is going to be a chore. Hit the break to catch the machete slingshot in action:
