It seems like all the rumors and leaks have paid off as Sony has officially announced the Xperia T. This will be the company?s brand new flagship device and will sport a 4.6? display that is powered by the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine, and at the same time has no problems playing back 1080p Full HD video content. It will also sport a 13MP rear-facing camera and a sleep-to-snap function that reportedly will allow the phone to launch the camera app in an ?instant?. Exactly how fast this is remains to be seen, although Sony claims it will be just over a second. (more…)

If you have followed the news recently, you may have heard of Sony’s upcoming XPERIA tablet (and accessories, and specs) as a rumor. Well, at IFA, Sony is launching this new device officially, and we had the opportunity to have a quick hands-on before its official debuts. Before we provide our first impressions, let’s talk about what Sony is aiming for.
The XPERIA tablet has been built with a data-driven process. Sony has noticed that a lot of people were using their tablet in front of the TV. That’s why it has added an infrared emitter to turn the XPERIA tablet into a very (very!) fancy universal remote. Samsung has arrived to pretty much the same conclusion with the Galaxy Note 10.1 IR capabilities, and so far, this is a very good idea, and Sony’s remote functionality can handle more complex scenarios than Samsung’s. It certainly seems that clothing has gone beyond just protecting our modesty and keeping us warm, and just like our phones, our clothes have gotten smarter as well. In this particular instance, designer Halley Profita has come up with a dress called ?Flutter?. What it does is that it allows the hearing impaired to ?feel? the sounds of the world around them. While it might look like your typical dress, Flutter comes with a host of electronics underneath it, namely a set of microphones that will pick up sound coming from a certain direction, while the leaflets attached to the dress will flutter in the direction of that sound. This will supposedly provide an alternative sensory awareness to the wearer of their surroundings. We?re not sure how effective it will be, but it certainly sounds like an interesting project. More information on the Flutter dress can be found on Halley?s blog.
