KaraKustoms machined case for iPad 2 looks sleek
and sturdy

KarasKustoms iPad 2 case

There are plenty of cases available on the aftermarket for iPad 2 tablets and they all have one goal in common: to keep your tablet protected, and some do a better job than others but sacrifice its looks in doing so. Well, the folks over at KarasKustoms ? a company that specializes in machined products for use with Apple devices, have just got a custom-made case for the iPad 2 that looks tough and doesn’t skimp on the looks department.

Made from anodized metal, delrin spacers, stainless button head hardware, with specially designed notches to allow easy access to all ports and buttons, this machined case for the iPad 2 sure looks nothing like the countless other cases available out there. With such heavy duty protection, the KaraKustoms machined case for iPad 2 could prep the tablet for environments like restaurants and commerce events. The case is available now and comes in silver or black with a price tag of $89.00.

Facebook Rejects Logout Cookie Allegations

A few days ago, a blogger named Nik Cubrilovic reported that Facebook’s new API’s allows applications to post messages on the new Timeline, without users’ intervention. The blogger explains that this new API is an extension of Facebook Instant, called “frictionless sharing” and although you might think Logging-Out will save you, it appears it doesn’t [...]

Life with the Eco Pod, Rugged All Terrain Speaker
Case

We have reported on the Eco Pod before, and I got a chance to try out the Rugged All Terrain Speaker Case for myself. For those who aren’t familiar with this product, I’m not certain whether “Rugged All Terrain” is an adequate adjective for it. I mean, you can use your mobile device in any [...]

Samsung sends out invites to Unpacked, Google
Episode Nexus Prime to be announced

Samsung Unpacked Event

Samsung has just sent out invites to the media concerning an upcoming event it will be holding on October 11th. Besides the name of the event: Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2011, Google Episode; the description “Join us at SAMSUNG MOBILE UNPACKED 2011 to get a look at what’s new from Android.” and the Google logo next to the Samsung logo at the bottom, the invitation doesn’t offer any additional clues to what the event will be about.

But seeing how the event is in the final quarter of the year ? the scheduled time frame for Ice Cream Sandwich’s (Android 4.0) release, together with the co-branding of Google on the invitation we can’t help but feel it might be the announcement of the next Nexus phone ? the rumored Nexus Prime. Or we could be totally off the mark, we can’t say for sure. What we do know is that we’ll keep you up to date on what goes on. For those of you interested in watching the event from the comfort of your own home, there will be a Livestream available as well. October 11th, 11.30AM ? mark it down on your calendar.

HP TouchPad on sale for employees crashes web
store

HP Store

True to its word, HP has made its final batch of TouchPad tablets available to its employees today, unfortunately it seems like HP didn’t expect the huge surge of customers logging in at once to buy the super-cheap tablet. It has been reported that the web store slowed to a crawl due to the large number of employees on the site trying to get a tablet for themselves.

But HP did mention that there would be enough TouchPad tablets to go around ? at least one per employee, so it makes you wonder what the rush was all about. A tipster who fed webOSroundup.com the information mentioned that it took him nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes just to place an order, while many more employees were unable to make their purchase.

No word on what the site is like now, or whether there are any TouchPads left for non-employees to order, but we’ll keep you posted. Any HP employees out there who managed to place an order for the HP TouchPad?

Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Case

In 2010, Thermaltake won the Red Dot Design Award for Product Design for their collaborative work with BMW DesignworksUSA. That product was called the Thermaltake Level 10 case. The Level 10 was an aesthetic innovation that broke many of the traditional rules of the computer chassis industry. The problem? It's original cost was $850. That's a little on the expensive side. In 2011, Thermaltake was at it again, reusing the general design of the Level 10 in order to create another case that won the Red Dot Design Award for Product Design, the Thermaltake Level 10 GT. By cutting the cost of such an innovative style of case by more than half, the Level 10 GT began to appeal to a much wider audience. Now Thermaltake has brought us another look in the Level 10 lineup. In this article, Benchmark Reviews brings you an in-depth look at the Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Case.

foxLv2 PLATINUM Bluetooth portable speaker
announced

Soundmatters foxLv2 PLATINUM

The folks over at Soundmatters have just introduced a new addition to its lineup of foxL high quality portable speakers founded by former NASA engineer/audio legend Dr. Godehard Guenther. Called the foxLv2 PLATINUM Bluetooth, it has new performance features including CSR apt-X which dramatically improves the quality of audio that is streamed over Bluetooth from apt-X equipped devices (i.e. Apple Snow Leopard and Lion computers). Shedding its previous all-black attire, the foxLv2 PLATINUM features a platinum finish, and has a touted battery life of 10 hours or more of music (20 hours if Bluetooth is off). For folks who don’t have any Bluetooth music sources, a bundled Audioquest cable lets you feed music to the speaker. It also packs a built-in noise-cancelling microphone for making speakerphone calls. The Soundmatters foxLv2 PLATINUM will be available in November 2011 and will be priced at $229. Find out more.
