Insignia Kix MP3 player Insignia has a spanking new MP3 player in town - the Kix. This 1GB Kix comes with a tiny 1" OLED display, built-in USB connectivity and an extra long battery life of up to 30 hours on a single charge. Other than MP3, WMA (DRM) and WAV file support, it also comes with an integrated FM radio and 20 preset stations. For those who are interested in picking up an affordable MP3 player that plays audiobooks in the Audible format as well, you can't really go wrong with the Insignia Kix, especially with a retail price of $60.

California gets free WiFi from AT&T

AT&T has taken steps to provide free WiFi connectivity to almost 600 locations across Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Orange and Ventura counties. This free service came into effect yesterday, helping those affected by the forest fires to stay connected with families and friends. This is a noble and commendable effort on the part of AT&T - no idea on how long this free WiFi connection will last though, but it ought to be available for at least several weeks. You can check out the full list of AT&T WiFi hot spots in California here.
