We’ve all heard, or have even said to ourselves, “man, I wish I played games for a living!” Well some folks at the Jixi labor camp in the northern province of Heilongjiang, China are probably wishing for anything but to stare at a computer screen playing video games ever again.

According to a 54-year old prisoner from that labor camp, he was forced to play games on the internet in order to build up credit that was traded by his guards for real money. The game in question? World of Warcraft. The prisoner was recently interviewed by The Guardian told his story about being a “gold farmer” in a labor camp.

Windows Marketplace now has 20,000 apps

It was only a couple of months ago that we reported the app store for Windows Phone 7, Windows Marketplace, surpassed the 10,000 app milestone. As of today, that number has been doubled to 20,000 apps. Talk about a growth spurt! It looks like the Windows Marketplace is growing at roughly the same rate as Apple’s App Store. The Marketplace took 219 days to reach 20,000 apps, while the App Store took only 215 days. The Android Market, took 419 days and the BlackBerry App World took 684 days – almost two years to hit the same milestone.

This is definitely a sign of good things to come ? with more apps available on the platform, more users will be interested in picking up a WP7 device, which in turn attracts more developers and results in even more apps on the store. How long do you think the Windows Marketplace will take to hit the 100,000 mark?

Probably not as much as a private Asian collector who forked out $1.9 million (1.3 million EUR) for the Leica 0-Serie Nr.107 (1923). The camera has an estimated price of $501,200-$644,400 (350,000-450,000 EUR) and it started with an opening bid of $286,400 (200,000 EUR). The auction only took twenty minutes to find its buyer. And we thought the Hasselblad H4D-200MS was expensive.
