HBO Go to arrive on Xbox 360 this April 1

April 1 is a day where many people would play pranks on one another, but you can be just as sure that the sun will rise in the east and set in the west, so too, will April 1 see HBO Go hit the Xbox 360 console, bringing yet another facet in terms of entertainment on the home console. According to Engadget, HBO co-President Eric Kessler mentioned that the cable network’s hugely popular HBO Go on-demand streaming service will be online from April 1 onwards. This is slightly more than a month to go, which should not be too long to wait considering how the service was looked forward to by many since last December. (more…)

iPad 3: Look ma, no Home button!

So, it seems that the rumored March 7th date that signified the release of the iPad 3 to the masses has been confirmed thanks to the invitation to Apple’s iPad 3 event. Not only that, we do think that the new iPad 3 is shown on the invite itself, splashed all over in a blown up manner, touting something that is nice to see and touch. You don’t say, Apple? Eagle eyed folks who eat, sleep and breathe Apple products would be quick to point out to you that the iPad 3 will not feature any Home button – either that, or, the Home button has been moved to somewhere else, or the image shown was cleverly captured from a different angle. The spacing between the icons do indicate a portrait orientation instead of landscape, so could the Home button last see action physically on the iPad 2? Only time will tell, and you only have slightly more than a week to wait before all is revealed.

Samsung updates Tizen

Samsung has just announced that developers will be able to access an updated version of Tizen as well as the Tizen SDK. Just what the heck is Tizen? Unless you have been living under a rock without any form of communication at all to the outside world, Tizen is actually Samsung’s open-source, standards-based mobile operating system which is currently being developed. The new version will come along as a beta, where it will throw in an updated user interface framework, web APIs, and support for Windows and Ubuntu platforms. Not only that, Huawei did indicate their recent inclusion as part of the Tizen Foundation Association Board of Directors. With Huawei’s status as a member – being on the Board of Directors, no less, it would mean Huawei is able to access the mobile platform as well as Samsung’s developer resources. Does this signal additional smartphones from Huawei in the future, which will not only run on the Android operating system, but also have a separate branch that takes the Tizen route as well? Samsung Brightside from Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless has just announced a spanking new smartphone – the Samsung Brightside, where this slider smartphone will reveal a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging and texting purposes, just in case you have not yet gotten used to a virtual keyboard after all this while. Yes, there are still segments of the population who feel that an actual physical keyboard is the way to go, as the lack of haptic feedback when dancing one’s fingers all over a virtual keyboard is distracting, and does not have the same, familiar “feel”. The Samsung Brightside is no high-end handset, but it ought to get its job done well enough, supporting Verizon’s 3G network, boasting a 3.1″ touchscreen display, the aforementioned full QWERTY slider keyboard, a 3.2-megapixel shooter that does decent video and image capture, and one-touch access. The asking price would be a Benjamin with a new 2-year contract.

iPad 3 to be announced March 7th

iPad 3 launch After months of speculation and rumors about the iPad 3, we can finally lay them to rest very soon. Apple has started sending out invitations to the official unveiling of the iPad 3, and it looks like iMore’s sources were right on the dot about the date. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10AM PST on Wednesday, March 7^th. Will it feature a quad-core processor? LTE connectivity? Retina Display? A higher price tag? What else? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. It’s going to be an interesting week ahead of us and we can’t wait. Who’s excited for the iPad 3 launch?

Did you know that Killzone 3 is already a year old? Yes sir, that is right, and this is a call for celebration, never mind that it is just the first anniversary. After all, not all video games are going to last as long as a solid marriage. Well, Sony is proud to announce that they have rolled out a standalone version of the game?s online component, right there on the PlayStation Store. It is known as ?Killzone 3 Multiplayer,? where it will comprise the Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone, and Operations game modes, in addition to the original Killzone 3 maps as well as the entire gamut of Killzone 3 DLC maps. PS Vita sold 1.2 million units worldwide

Are you a huge fan of portable gaming? Of course, the more casual gamers would stick to their smartphones and tablets, but really serious gamers will most probably have at least a Nintendo and a Sony portable handheld console in their pockets. Sony’s latest effort is the Sony PS Vita, and it has already sold 1.2 million units around the world since it hit the US and Japan on February 22, 2012 and December 17, 2011, respectively. Sony claims that 1.2 million in sales have ?exceeded expectations? – were they being more pessimistic than what I already thought, as gaming-mad Japan alone has so many gamers. On the bright side, you know that each person brought home nearly 2 games for each PS Vita sold, since worldwide software sales have passed the 2 million mark – be they purchased from a brick and mortar store, or picked up via the company?s PlayStation Network. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 hits Verizon Wireless on
March 1st

Back at CES 2012 last month, we managed to sneak in a couple of shots of the (then new) Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, where there was no concrete date as to when it will arrive in the market.
