Those who are searching a high-end standalone Blu-Ray player should take a look at the BD-P2500. It supports the highest quality audio and video (HQV certified) http://www.hqv.com/ output and can be upgraded via Ethernet, USB or optical disc, when further improvements of the firmware will be available. The good news is that it should age well. The bad news is that you'll have to change your TV, your stereo and possibly your home to have a perfect match. It costs $499 (MSRP) and ships in October

Add to myYahoo!Logitech launches the Squeezebox Boom, a new addition to its networked music players. Like previous version, it can stream music over WIFI or Ethernet from various sources like a personal computer, a media server or the internet (Rhapsody, Pandora, Slacker, Sirius...). It has a beefier amplifier and speakers than the Squeezebox classic and its display adjusts itself to the ambient lighting, so that you can use it as a (powerful) alarm. It's display won't wake you up. It's compatible with PC and Mac computers costs $299 (MSRP) - ships in September 2008.

Toshiba loves the idea of convergence and practiced it by launching the new DV Series at IFA. This new DV Series feature HD-ready LCD TVs that come complete with built-in DVD players, and that's about as far as Toshiba can go since they were the ones who produced the now defunct HD DVD, the only rival to Blu-ray which has quality that is on par. Still, in addition to a DVD player, each TV will feature a built-in Integrated Digital Tuner, HDMI connectivity, 1,000:1 contrast radio, support for Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Sound, and a resolution of 720p. Available from October onwards, the DV Series will come in 19" and 22" sizes.

Add to myYahoo!By Andrew LiszewskiMost teens can’t wait for the day when they’re old enough to drive. I was just the opposite. In fact, it was my parents who eventually forced me to go to driver’s ed, which turned out to be a really crappy way to spend a Summer. I’m pretty sure they just wanted another [...]
