Cricket Wireless and the ZTE Chorus

Music is the stuff of life – that alone is undeniable, and for those of you who are on the lookout for an entry level smartphone that does not break the bank in terms of its pricing and yet is able to deliver all the music that you want, look no further. Granted, you will be strapped to a lesser known carrier outside of the Big Four (AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile), but if being with Cricket Wireless is all right with you, then you might be interested to pick up the Android-powered ZTE Chorus. What makes the ZTE Chorus so special? Well, for starters, it will also come with Muve Music, which is Cricket’s very own music streaming service. (more…)

Motorola Droid RAZR gets a shade of white

I do not really fancy white gadgets, as they tend to soil far too easily, and scratches as well as blemishes are easily spotted. Still, that has not stopped hardware manufacturers from churning out white colored devices as they tend to attract plenty of attention (and sales figures, I might add) for some strange reason. Perhaps having a white phone or a white camera depicts a more “pure” owner? I don’t know, but what I do know is this – someone over at Verizon might have made a boo-boo, or it might be the real deal. What I’m referring to here is a white colored Motorola Droid RAZR that was spotted in a leaked screenshot that allegedly hails from Verizon?s device management system. (more…)

T-Mobile UK announces Vivacity smartphone

Gadgets are funny business – the high end models are the most desirable in terms of design as well as functions most of the time, but then again, they do not generate the most sales for a company, since any graph would show that the mid-range and entry-level devices would do far better since the majority of the population would be able to afford them. Well, having said that, I am not opposed to high end devices – I would associate them with Formula 1 racing, pushing the boundaries of mobile technology always so that the masses will benefit in the long run. T-Mobile UK’s latest smartphone would not fall under the high end category, but rather, will be an entry-level participant known as the Vivacity. (more…)

Motorola Triumph receives Ice Cream Sandwich
build

Do not be misled by the moniker Motorola Triumph, it might sound pretty mighty and all, but in reality, it is not exactly a high end device that you would lust for. It falls under the mid-range scheme of things, but it has proved to be quite the attractive purchase for those who want something better than what the bottom of the food chain offers. It remains to be seen whether the Motorola Triumph will be on the receiving end of an official Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update, but as mom used to say, if you want something done, you’ve gotta do it yourself. And that is exactly what a developer on the AndroidForums have done – seemingly ported the Ice Cream Sandwich ROM onto the device with success. (more…)

HTC gets the clone treatment with HTE

Want to clone a device? Look no further than the masters residing over at China, where the latest device to be cloned would be HTC’s smartphone, and the “fake” smartphone is known as the HTE. Yes sir, this particular knock off is touted to deliver HTC?s very own Sense UI, not to mention being compatible with Sprint?s 4G technology – at least that is what the branding at the back touts, although I am not quite sure whether this will be case when you unbox said device in your living room. There is no further word available on its range of specifications, but based on the looks of the phone, it is nothing too impressive to talk about. (more…)

Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread headed to Samsung
Galaxy S2 Skyrocket

If you happen to be one of the bunch of folks who picked up the spanking new Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket from AT&T, then you would do well to quickly make a check on whether there is a new software update available or not. It does seem as though that Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread has been made available only to Skyrocket owners at the moment, and it remains to be seen just as to what the kind of changes this update will bring, although initial complaints concerning a bug in Google’s Voice Search does seem to have been solved, but apart from that, someone out there needs to compile a bucket list to show what is new with this particular update. Motorola Droid RAZR source code rolls out

OK, so we have seen source codes for Doom 3, the Amazon Kindle Fire and the HTC Rezound released over the month, and if you are a sucker for collecting source codes as part of your “collection” so that you are able to tinker around with it, here is some bit of news – the Motorola Droid RAZR’s source code is now available, and this means the chances are pretty high as a Droid RAZR owner to be on the receiving end of some modifications as well as custom ROMs coming your way in the near future. To put it in a nutshell, non-developers will soon be able to taste the fruits of developers’ labors in due time, and it might also help in terms of security since bugs as well as loopholes can be better detected by security researchers as well as analysts. Verizon Wireless trademarks hologram

I must admit that between the LG Optimus 3D and the HTC Evo 3D, I prefer the former’s 3D display as it seems more real and vivid, although I myself am a HTC diehard. Ah well, love goes beyond mere looks and capabilities I guess, and at least it allows me to throw my weight behind HTC and support them in their quest for better smartphones! That aside, it seems that Verizon Wireless themselves want to get on the stereoscopic 3D game, even though they do not have a single 3D handset in their portfolio at the moment unlike Sprint and AT&T who already have the HTC EVO 3D and LG Thrill, respectively. Gamestop lists Transformer Prime release date

First there was single core, followed by dual-core processors and now the ante has increased even more – with the presence of quad-core processors, of course. To borrow from the Spiderman adage, “with great power comes great responsibility” – so how will the responsibility of a tablet that sports a quad-core processor measure up? I guess you won’t really know until you pick one up for yourself and give it a go – I’m talking about Gamestop listing the Asus Transformer Prime’s release date as December 9th. Yes sir, that is slightly more than a week away, and surely by the time that date arrives, do expect to see your fair share of unboxing videos hitting YouTube and the like. (more…)
