Drum Table Plays It Loud

This drum table will certainly get on your nerves much more than that pesky colleague who has developed this nasty habit of drumming his fingers on the table throughout the entire day. Well, at least this drum table produces way more authentic sounds, but seriously - unless you're a modern musician who finds inspiration from weird gizmos, I suggest giving this a pass since your own kids might drive you mad with this new 'toy'. Good thing it isn't cheap, since a four-instrument drum table costs $800 while a sixteen-instrument drum table will set you back by $2,900.

iRobot Modded to handle All Terrain

iRobot Modded to handle All Terrain

Byron Lahey and other researchers at Arizona State University have been sweating it out to develop this all terrain iRobot modification.

Robot Create robots are easily programmable and expandable in their functionality, but can only travel on a very limited varieties of terrain (carpet, hard flat floors and other typical interior domestic surfaces). As part of the Arts, Media and Engineering program we are working on systems related to the Mars exploration rovers. To teach about these systems and allow students to test and explore terrain navigation and mapping with robots, we needed robots with expanded terrain navigation capabilities. This video demonstrates an early prototype modification of the iRobot, comparing the performance of a modified and unmodified robot traveling on a rocky surface.

Well well, this is certainly one improvement that I certainly welcome.

Black GSM Palm Centro Coming

Black GSM Palm Centro Coming

The Palm Centro might have sold a whole bunch, but it still isn't doing enough to drag Palm out of the woods just yet. For those who are contemplating on picking up a Centro, you will be pleased to know that there is a black colored version now available - at least in AT&T's store at Salt Lake City, Utah. Pricing details are tipped to remain the same since the only cosmetic change is the color.

LG Inks Deal With Kodak

LG Inks Deal With Kodak

LG has just come to an agreement with Kodak, where the latter will supply the former with AMOLED displays for use in cell phones, portable media players, digital photo frames and even smaller TVs. This is good news, as we can soon expect the Korean electronics giant to come up with devices that have better displays, boasting superior response times to LCD, blur-free motion video, thinner designs and wider viewing angles. Keep an eye out for LG handsets for these improvements in the near future.

Killer Bee for the Military

Killer Bee for the Military

The Killer Bee is set to replace the current ScanEagle unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that is being used by the US Marine Corps and Navy. What the Killer Bee offers is a longer flight time and range - capable of hitting more than 100 miles, carrying a higher payload capacity in order to unleash a greater destructive power upon the enemy. Interestingly enough, the bent tip of the wings provides greater stability during tight turns while solving the problem of antennae placement. It uses infrared sensors and a live video system to track objects, be it day or night, while an on-board laser makes it capable of firing precision guided minutions with impunity. Good thing there will still be wars around in 2011 when the Killer Bee is unleashed.
