After speculation that Motorola may be entering the tablet space and confirmation from CEO Sanjay Jha, we now have a seemingly firmer date on when that may be. Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar told The Street that Motorola's tablet will come in November, listing a 10-inch screen and Android 3.0 Gingberbread build as preliminary specs. An Android tablet from Motorola would beat out its Apple iPad competitor in that Google's OS--starting with Android 2.2 and later--will come pre-bundled with support for Adobe Flash 10.1 browser plug-in, allowing for a desktop experience with interactive content built around that framework.

The mini smartphone tablet Nokia N900 gets its own Microsoft Office editing suite today thanks to DataViz. The company has recently released its Documents To Go Premium Edition, which allows users to open, view, and edit Microsoft Office documents, spreadsheets, and presentation files. Promised to be compatible with Office 2010 and Office 2007, the Premium Edition will sell for $29.99 from the N900's on-device Ovi Store. DataViz also has a Documents To Go Viewer Edition for $9.99, which foregoes the editing capabilities of its higher priced brother.

It is now possible for Apple developers to get a preview of XCode 4, the integrated development environment (IDE) for iPhone and OS X. There are a number of improvements, but the most visible one is the new user interface of the IDE: The current version is messy and has Windows all over the place. Xcode 4 makes things a lot cleaner, and integrates Interface Builder: it catches up with MS Visual Studio - at least on the surface (I have not downloaded it yet). This is a *very welcome* change.
Other improvements include Fix-It (a contextual tool that suggests fixes for syntax and small logic errors), a new Debugger, and instrumentation to measure the performance of apps - including graphics calls in OpenGL. All in all, this seems a pretty good update. I can't wait to try it.
