Sony ICD-B600 For The Budget-conscious

Sony ICD-B600 For The Budget-conscious

Having a digital voice recorder around can be pretty handy, especially when you want to make impromptu voice notes in order to remember whatever task you have to do in the future. Sony will be making available its ICD-B600 digital voice recorder this April for approximately $40, bringing 512MB of internal flash memory to the masses. That amount is able to provide up to 300 hours of recording time in long playing mode. Other features include a 12/24 hour clock and a couple of AAA batteries to run it. Looks like this is a suitable addition for college students and those suffering from short-term memory.

Sony ICD Series Of Digital Voice Recorders

Sony ICD Series Of Digital Voice Recorders

Sony is accompanying its UX series of digital voice recorders with higher end versions from the ICD series, targeting professionals, broadcasters and non-PC users, bringing to the table double the storage capacities compared to the models they are ousting. First off we have the high-end ICD-SX68 and ICD-SX68DR9 digital voice recorders thaat are meant for business professionals, and they function with the Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition software from Nuance Communications, Inc. When used in tandem with Sony’s Digital Voice Editor software, users will be able to convert voice to text, although I'm not sure whether the voice recognition software is up to par or not (hopefully it won't end up like Brain Age's "Black" and "Blue" dilemma). These two recorders feature 512MB of storage capacity that provides up to 185 hours of voice recording time in Long Play mode, but if you want to record MP3s then that time drops to just 8 hours. Both these models will be available this April, with the ICD-SX68 and ICD-SX68DR9 models retailing for $150 and $200, respectively.

Sony MDR-AS20J Headphones

Sony MDR-AS20J Headphones

Sony is targeting the active lifestyle crowd with its MDR-AS20J headphones that fit over the outer ear with an earbud which is rooted inside the ear canal itself. This makes it perfect fodder for those who love pounding the treadmill at the gym, making a few vigorous runs at the track, or simply trekking through mountanious regions to get away from it all. No matter how rough it gets, rest assured that your music will not be interrupted as the Sony MDR-AS20J headphones will remain in place just like those pesky barnacles stuck at the pier. I just hope that your portable media player or MP3 player will be a tough cookie as this pair of Sony headphones will probably outlast the device.

Sony SRS-ZX1 Multimedia Speakers

Sony SRS-ZX1 Multimedia Speakers

The latest multimedia speakers from Sony, the SRS-ZX1 measures approximately 5" deep and 6" tall. They aim to make you feel as though you are in a recording studio or at a live concert, which translates to the most lifelike sound possible thanks to its unique mobius-band shape of the duct in the solid aluminum speakers that reduces wind noise to deliver deceptively large, crisp sound from speakers so small. The duct design is merged with a digital signal processor to function as Sony's "turbo shift" technology, moving bass sounds in the inaudible frequency range to the audible range for an enriched bass experience. The SRS-ZX1 multimedia speakers will roll out this April for around $400 each.

Sony PFR-V1 Personal Field Speakers

Sony PFR-V1 Personal Field Speakers

Sony's PFR-V1 Personal Field Speakers were specially designed to envelop your ears with a listening field, where audio is projected via its two 1" die-cast aluminum speakers which are connected to a headband made out of lightweight duralumin metal. Whenever you wear the band on your head, the speakers will look as though they are floating right in front of your ears, courtesy of the silicone rubber fittings on the band. Audio is then directed from the front of the speakers toward your ear canal for an optimum listening experience. While mid- and high-range audio frequencies are aimed toward the outer ear, the ear canal will receive bass frequency sound delivered directly through the extended bass reflex ducts. The AA battery-powered PFR-V1 personal field speakers will be released this April for about $500.
