Guess cell phones these days are taking the same route as fashion designers, whereby they release handsets according to the seasons. EMobile has just rolled out a couple of cell phones, namely the Toshiba H11T and the HTC S11HT. Both of these are HSDPA-capable, and they feature a 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, an integrated audio/video player, and a microSD memory card slot. No idea on how much these cost, but they definitely look sweet save for those who love tiny and svelte phones. I prefer something a little bit more solid myself.

The washing machine concept known as "Tian Chi" will definitely liven up your laundry days - it comes equipped with a top loading trap door that also functions as a basketball hoop. While you don't dunk any actual balls inside, at least it allows you the freedom of throwing those socks and shirts through the pseudo-hoop without interrupting the wash cycle. Sounds and looks more like a home appliance for jocks, since female homemakers will probably find better things to do with their time instead.

The Soft Phone concept is made up of a series of discs with electronic fabric stretched in between, allowing one to use a combination of tactile gestures like squeezing to hang-up. The fibers used are fine enough and optically clear, allowing light energy to pass through to display contextual menus that are simple to understand. Should you need to type a speedy text message, just unfurl the collapsible structure to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Other elements of the Soft Phone like the antenna, battery, camera and micro-electronics are all stored within a tiny clip that is made of soft, squeezable, stress-reducing silica. Strange thing a receiver was included in this concept - hasn't everyone moved on to wireless technology already even today?

Add to myYahoo! As you travel throughout your day, electrons are shifting all over your body. Sometimes, like when you pull your sweater off or slide out of your car, an excess of electrons attach themselves to your body (you are actually tearing them off of the other substance). When you next touch a piece of positively [...]

Add to myYahoo!Apple’s (disclosure: I own AAPL stock) long-awaited MacBook and MacBook Pro revisions were announced today, and surprised many by simply making upgrades. While I’d have loved to have seen a whole new lineup of laptops, the reality is this move made a lot of sense for the company. First, let’s not be so quick to [...]

It is true that these two could be potential arch-enemies, but the thing that annoys me the most is that it would not have cost a whole lot more to get a decent, not great, but *decent* design for the Everex computer (yes, I dislike the bright patch on the front). Couldn’t they make the whole thing black? It would have been even less expensive to produce. Question: do Linux users care about design? Add a comment below.
I like the form-factor of these small computers, but unless I can turn them into media centers (the TV Tuner is missing) or unless I want to do a crazy mod, I’ll just skip for now.

The new hot UMPC is the Mini-NB (also called HP 2133) that is small, sexy and bound to be “cheap” ($500-$800), although the pricing is not official yet. The latest news that we got from Taiwan is that HP did order 2 million units. I have stopped short from buying an Eee PC (but it is hitching me hard) but I do not know if I will resist getting the Mini-B, 2133 or whatever HP decides to call it.

Add to myYahoo! You might have noticed that there are a lot of articles about Sony Products today. It is simply because the company is holding its annual “Open House” in Las Vegas and has therefore announced/demoed many products.
The Open House event lets buyers see the whole Sony Electronics line-up in one location. For us, it is a great opportunity to meet the people behind the brand and get our hands on some device, although many were already covered on ubergizmo during CES 08.
We should be back to normal headlines later tonight, but expect a few more posts about Sony products today, while we can play with them. If you want to see what the show looked like, click on the photo gallery.
