Mobile phones disguised as wrist watches used for
cheating in exams

Cheating has always been around and can be expected from students. Students have come up with various and rather ingenious ways of cheating, although given that technology these days are so advanced, the cheating methods unsurprisingly have caught up too. It seems that students in Bangladesh have recently been discovered cheating by receiving answers on their mobile phones which have been disguised as digital wrist watches.

These watches are custom made in China and how these people got the answers to the exam questions early was by bribing teachers and/or education officials. Students were reported to have paid $1,438 for the answers which seems like a steep price, although it might be cheaper than repeating the entire semester. The police have also arrested 10 masterminds behind this operation. Perhaps digital watches will be banned alongside mobile phones from the exam hall in the future as well.

BBM spotted on the Blackberry Playbook

When the Blackberry Playbook was launched, many were wondering why a key Blackberry feature, BBM, was missing. Well if you?re wondering what BBM on the Playbook might look like, @BB_in has posted a photo on their Twitter profile with what appears to be BBM for the Playbook. Unfortunately it seems that hacking BBM onto the Playbook isn?t for everyone, and according to @BB_in it will ?wreck? your Playbook. We?re not 100% sure of what @BB_in meant by that, but we guess it isn?t for everyone to try. In any case for Playbook owners looking forward to BBM, you can expect it when the tablet has been updated to Blackberry 10, which means that we will be seeing it in 2013, until then we guess we just have to wait it out.

Blackberry 10 Cinnamon Toast and French Toast UI

Notifications on smartphones are an important feature as they keep us informed of new messages, emails and etc. However depending on how the notification was designed, it can either be informative or just downright annoying (think the popup alerts prior to iOS 5). Well the folks at N4BB have managed to get their hands on a couple of slides that detail the notification system that will be arriving on Blackberry 10 devices. These have been given the names Cinnamon Toast and French Toast, with the former displaying notifications via the lock screen, with more information being displayed depending on the angle the phone is held. French Toast on the other hand has been described as a means of recovering accidentally deleted items. It seems like RIM has put a lot of thought into Blackberry 10 although it is a pity we will only be seeing it in 2013. What do you guys think? Like what you see so far, and do you think this will be enough to make Blackberry 10 competitive?

New God of War: Ascension trailer launched

We?re sure that many gamers out there are looking forward to God of War: Ascension. Well the good news is that a new trailer for the game has been revealed, along with a feature called Rise of the Warrior, which according to Sony is a social experience on GodofWar.com in which players will be able to live our their warrior?s journey in a graphic-novel style. Sounds pretty interesting and if you?re looking to get in on the beta action of the multiplayer aspect of the game, Sony has announced that this will be available to Playstation Plus subscribers and will be able to go hands on with the feature. In any case more information can be found on the PlayStation blog, but in the meantime you can check out the latest trailer for God of War: Ascension in the video above!

Blizzard offering free character transfers for
some World of Warcraft servers

Gamers if you?re playing World of Warcraft and you?re finding it hard to enter your chosen servers, possibly due to overcrowding which leads to queuing, Blizzard has announced free character transfers once again. As expected these free character transfers are targeted at the more popular servers, such as Frostmourne (Oceanic), Illidan (Central), Kil?jaeden (Pacific) and Stormrage (Eastern). Players who belong in those servers have the option of transferring to Gundrak, Mug?thol, Frostwolf or Trollbane respectively. This free transfer will only be valid until 11:59pm on the 31^st of October, so you best make your move quickly! The good news is that if you?re in a guild and your GM completes a Guild Master Realm Transfer, guild membership and guild reputation will be kept. Starblo was a prototype game by Blizzard that
combined Starcraft and Diablo

Given the popularity of Blizzard?s games, Starcraft and Diablo, we?re sure that are fans out there who might have fantasized what Diablo would have been like in a space-setting. Well it seems that Blizzard did consider that once and according to an interview with Shacknews, David Craddock, the author of the unofficial biography, ?Stay awhile and Listen?, revealed that Blizzard had prototyped a game with the codename ?Starblo?. Nissan works on skin-like car upholstery

When it comes to the kind of upholstery in your vehicle, most folks would figure out that leather is the epitome of luxury. After all, it provides that nice, warm and soft feeling as you sink your entire body right into it after a long day at the office. Those who are not that well off, or if the vehicle is of a lower grade, regular cloth seats will have to do. Nissan, however, have tasked their engineers to develop something which might just sound creepy – to create synthetic materials which replicate the feel and touch of a human finger.

It seems that Nissan?s engineers are taking this route because they figured out that the kind of sensation which provides humans with most luxurious feeling is, of all things, our own human skin. After all, we respond to another human’s touch in a totally different manner compared to other sensations, and the four key factors which were looked into included flexibility, temperature, smoothness and moistness of a human finger. We do wonder what kind of color will the new interior look like, and perhaps this can also be an offshoot for future robots that are in search for synthetic human skin.
