Suzuki Biplane concept

The Suzuki Biplane motorcycle that is currently on display at the Tokyo Auto Show was inspired design-wise by the classic Wright Brothers biplane, but I personally think it looks more like that red mean machine that Akira rode in the groundbreaking anime by Katsuhiro Otomo. Will there be secret wings hidden inside this beast? Probably not, but chances are you'll be able to fly in this thing and put just about any other vehicle on the road to shame with your speed.

IM+ for Skype

iPhone users have yet another application to look forward to, and this time it is the web-based version of IM+ for Skype. It uses SkypeOut as the base, allowing you to receive and make calls at Skype rates. In addition, users will be able to take advantage of IM+ to chat with fellow Skype users while sending text messages via Skype. Needless to say, it works with the recently released iPod Touch as well. Head on to s4iphone.com and check it out.

Hanns.G HG281D reviewed

The Hanns. G HG281D 28" LCD monitor has been taken out for a spin by the folks at Extreme Tech, and they are pretty impressed with it overall. Features include a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, a response time of 3ms, a contrast ratio of 800 to 1, and a recommended retail price that does not breach the $700 mark ($650 actually). Unfortunately, when ranked against similarly sized monitors (albeit those are much more costly), it isn't really able to compete with them due to the monitor's relatively poor gamma curve and dark color numbers. Not only that, certain extras we have come to take for granted like extra USB ports aren't included - I guess you get what you pay for after all.

Anti-groping feature on cellphones Everyone knows that groping is a fact of life on Japan's crowded trains, but there is hope yet for women using that mode of transport. An anti-groping application has been developed, flashing a series of stern messages that get more and more serious in time. It will start off with the rather blunt "Excuse me, did you just grope me?", progressing to "Shall we head to the police?" for all and sundry to hear. Hopefully females won't abuse this feature at a colleague whom they have a strong dislike for.

Honda, VW get new navigation systems

Both Honda and Volkswagen are parading their latest generation in-vehicle navigation systems that will be made available as in-dash options in their cars. You get hard drive-based navigation that feature superior data access speeds compared to DVD-based systems, leaving a fair bit of space left for you to store your digital music collection. Honda forges ahead with a 40GB hard drive, while the Volkswagen system embraces three quarters of that amount complete with high resolution maps. As for the Honda system, it comes with a rearview camera, Bluetooth cellphone integration and a TV tuner while supporting Honda's Internavi Premium Club that sends information such as map updates, weather, and live traffic to the navigation system.
