Digital Cameras seem to always make the "12 Gizmos of Christmas" feature year after year. This year digital cameras dropped one spot to #7 in our series, but we don't see this group disappearing from our series in years to come. With several manufacturers no longer updating their film-based cameras, digital cameras have overtaken their analog counterparts... not just in popularity but in quality of output as evidenced by professional photographers switching in droves to various digital SLR models.

I know I can't afford a Vertu. And I don't know you personally, but I suspect that you can't afford it either. But it's Friday, and we're all feeling a little delicate here at Shiny Towers, and there's no better way of getting over delicacy than with a bit of daydreaming. And there's a lottery draw tomorrow, so you never know...
This one has got a sapphire screen, which rather than being all jewel-like, just means it will never ever scratch, which I find a little disappointing. The rest of it is stainless steel and titan, and of course there's the concierge button, for your heart's desire whenever you please. And it'll set you back just $14,800.

Add to myYahoo!Since we're all on the fragile side over at Shiny Towers, there's really only one thing left to do: watch stupid videos on YouTube that our shrunken, dehydrated brains can just about appreciate. Here's a video of a baby who has the dirtiest laugh I've ever encountered on a pre-school human. It starts to get a little freakish by the end: where is all that mirth coming from?

Add to myYahoo! It was only a matter of time before Microsoft got into the portable audio/video market, particularly since their archenemy, Apple, has made their product synonymous with MP3 player. The first generation of the Zune starts off with a 30GB drive, and a 320x240 display for viewing videos and pictures. On the audio side, it plays MP3s, WMA, AACs, and more. So what makes Zune different from its main competitor, the iPod? First, the Zune has built-in WiFi and you can wirelessly share selected full-length sample tracks, playlists, pictures or your home-grown tracks directly from Zune to Zune. Next, like other popular MP3 players, the Zune has an FM tuner. One of Microsoft's smart moves has been to make the Zune compatible with iTunes, as well as to make a number of valuable accessories immediately available: the Zune Car Pack and the Zune Home A/V Pack for hooking up your Zune in your car or your home A/V system, respectively. Zune comes in 3 colors, black, brown and white, and is preloaded with some free music from a variety of record labels.

You know what I like most about this little gadget? It's the fact that it's called "Huey". Such a nice, friendly little name, don't you think? Actually, Huey here is a nice, friendly little gadget for anyone who takes digital photos or is involved in digital design of any kind. Huey, you see, calibrates your monitor settings making sure that the colours are absolutely accurate.
Hey connects to your PC using a USB port and will complete the calibration process in three minutes, after which you can adjust your monitor settings accordingly. As someone who spent over a week wondering why every single store on the Internet was selling black jeans only, it sounds like a good idea to me...
