Droid X rumored to receive Gingerbread this
Sunday

Motorola Droid XGreat news for Motorola Droid X users ? if rumors turn out to be true, Motorola will begin pushing out the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update starting at midnight this Sunday. The update will be pushed to business clients first, and then a full rollout to all users will happen the rest of the week. But take this news with a pinch of salt, as Verizon/Motorola have yet to announce anything, and it looks like the basis of the rumor stems from a tweet announcing that the current build of Gingerbread for the phone is stable. Stay tuned for more details ? we’ll keep you posted.

NOOKcolor to receive software update this April

The Home Shopping Network website did suggest that the NOOKcolor e-book reader is going to receive a major software update this coming April, and while the product description lacks an explanation on what will be included within the update, we do know that it was mentioned that Adobe Flash will be supported – so with the powers of inference that are in our hands, this might mean an operating system update that will finally hit Android 2.2 Froyo (or higher, that would be better). At the present moment however, the NOOKcolor will ship with Android 2.1 Eclair, and that doesn’t do Flash at all. The Home Shopping Network also has their customers at the top of their priority list, making it available to them first. Does this mean sales of the NOOKcolor will come to a standstill between now and April?

Bigfoot shot on video according to North Carolina
man

A North Carolina man has reportedly captured a video of Bigfoot in action, emailing it to WCNC NewsChannel 36 in Charlotte, N.C. He claims that he saw Bigfoot traipse across Golden Valley Church Road in Rutherford County on Tuesday evening. According to Byers, he was around 15 to 20 feet away from the creature when he managed to capture the fabled creature in a five-second video. Well, we must say that Byers ought to have carried around a much better camcorder, since what you see here is just a silhouette that could be just about anything, even Bigfoot’s mom. Byers mentioned that “it ran across the road and into the woods right in front of us and I was able to film it. In the short video you can hear it snarl or growl at me. One thing I know is the smell of it was horrid. It smelled like a cross between road kill and a skunk. And it did not like the fact that I was there on the road with it. In the video you can hear it snarl or growl at me as it crosses the road.” What do you make of this? Now we need camcorders that can capture smell, too.

Coby Snap HD flipcam arrives at the FCC

The Coby Snap HD flipcam has made its way to the FCC today, so you can be sure that it is more or less getting ready to hit the US market in the near/immediate future. Apart from shooting 720p HD video, it can also shoot 1.3-megapixel images, while featuring up to 16GB of storage space – although that largely depends on the use of an SD, MMC or SDHC memory card. There is also a 2″ TFT LCD display for you to check out what you’ve shot (while doubling as a viewfinder of sorts, of course), an F2.8 lens and TV out functionality via HDMI or component cables. If you want to connect it to the PC, you can do so thanks to the integrated USB connector which has become a somewhat commonplace feature in most mini camcorders these days, so that means one less cable to carry around. We don’t think this is going to cost too much, and the lack of Full HD functionality might prove to be a deal breaker for some.

Spy video camera looks like a Bluetooth headset

Bluetooth Headset Camcorder

The next time you see someone with a suspicious-looking Bluetooth headset on somebody staring at you ? you might be the subject of a hidden camera video. Hammacher has recently released the Bluetooth Headset Camcorder. Looking just like a regular Bluetooth Headset, it hooks around a user’s ear and has a mic that extends forward, and instead of only picking up audio, the camera lens at the end of the mic captures video as well. It records 480p resolution MP4 videos at 30fps and wirelessly transmits them to a paired Android or iPhone. With the touch of a button on the app for the device, you can upload it to Facebook or Youtube ? talk about instant coverage. And for those times when there is no need for a video camera, but a hands-free talking device instead, the Bluetooth Headset Camcorder can also function as a regular Bluetooth headset. It has a battery life of up to 4 hours of video recording or 10 hours of talk time. It is available now for $199.95 at the Hammacher Schlemmer store.

Videx CyberLock Flex System

Videx has just anounced their CyberLock Flex System which is actually a range of access modules which will expand the flexibility of the CyberLock system, where these modules are melded with the key-centric CyberLock solution in order to make padlocks smarter, not to mention ushering in a new generation of electronic locks and keys and a hardwired door control system under the roof of a solitary, powerful access management structure. What users don’t see is the dynamic software platform that will manage Flex System access modules, CyberLock hardware, and future door controllers as part of a single access management solution. The Flex System Hub will function as a conduit between the software and the Flex System modules and door controllers. With the new CyberLock Flex System in place, you will be able to invest in future module expansions if you so desire, growing with the size of your home (organization, more likely). Well, security is high on many peoples’ lists these days, so it pays to fork out a premium now than regret the loss of important documents later on.

Digital Storm Black OPS and Special OPS sports
new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590

Read all about our NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 review and then you might just make a beeline for the Digital Storm Black OPS and Special OPS gaming desktops, as both of them will offer the option of carrying this spanking new graphics card that intends to blow all of the competition away. More or less two graphics cards on a single, physical board, the GeForce GTX 590 when working in Quad-SLI coupled with a 5.2GHz overclock on the Intel Core i7-2600K processor is capable of crushing just about any benchmark figures, making sure you are able to experience nothing but the best, in the way the game developer wants you to sans choppy frame rates and lagging displays. Imagine hitting a whopping 5760 x 1080 resolution on a single GeForce GTX 590 graphic card – now that’s amazing, courtesy of its three dual-link DVI ports. Of course, such performance and quality isn’t going to come cheap, so you will need to set aside at least $2,500 to take advantage of what Digital Storm has to offer.

Acousto Optical Lock

Remember your old school car alarm? Press the button on the dongle, and the alarm will be activated or de-armed, and depending on which state it is in, it will emit a beep or two. Well, transfer that idea over to the world of bicycles and you get the Acousto Optical Lock concept. Instead of walking up and down a rack of bicycles, trying to search your memory as to the last place where you locked yours up, the Acousto Optical Lock makes short work of all that pacing since it will send an audio signal while lighting up, where the latter works great in low light conditions or at night. Just make sure you don’t lose the key fob! We do wonder whether there is any alarm associated with this to deter would-be burglars.
