The Windows Phone Mango update is really shaping up to be something. The folks over at wpcentral did some digging around and discovered that Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) will have the ability to share the phone’s internet connection with up to 5 other devices. Just like Android and iOS, Windows Phone joins the rank of operating systems that can turn devices into mobile hotspots. However, just like the internet sharing feature on other platforms ? it does consume a lot of battery.
It has also been confirmed that Internet Sharing will be a carrier-enabled feature ? so be prepared to fork out extra cash to enable it on your phone if your carrier decides to charge you for it. However, it’s good to see Windows Phone catch up so quickly to its much older rivals. Some operating systems took many years before it was implemented; Windows Phone is less than a year old.

For the first time ever, it looks like we have shots of a phone in the wild that don’t look like they were taken by someone on a rollercoaster. The female-oriented Android phone from HTC known as the HTC Bliss has been spotted in the wild again, this time without the usual blurriness. Now we get to have a closer look at the phone, which looks a lot like the initial renders of the device. The screen is off, so we can’t see what the phone’s UI is going to be like but hey ? it’s better than nothing.
For those of you not in the know, the HTC Bliss is HTC’s attempt at capturing the women’s market ? by pumping out a mediocre-spec’d Android phone that comes loaded with software designed for women. No word on when it will finally hit the market, but it shouldn’t be too long now. Hit the break for more pictures of the phone:

Add to myYahoo!Nokia has pulled the curtains on a brand new handset, the Nokia 700, which adopts a straightforward naming convention which may mean the end of separate sub-categories (N-series, E-Series etc). The Nokia 700 – formerly known as Zeta – marks the introduction of the next generation Symbian mobile platform, Belle, which takes over from Anna. The handset comes with a 1GHz SoC and a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, the same found on the more mainstream Nokia 500. The smartphone however comes … Read Full Article

The folks over at Sprintfeed.com have been analyzing Samsung’s latest video teaser for the Galaxy S 2 and they believe that the phone shown at the end is actually the Epic Touch 4G that is headed to Sprint. Here’s what they discovered: the weather widget saying “Kansas City” ? which is near Sprint’s headquarters. The date on the clock widget says “Friday 09/09″ ? which is the rumored date that the Galaxy S 2 will be arriving on Sprint. The phone also has a Sprint Visual Voicemail icon on the homescreen ? the same one found on the Motorola Photon 4G, another phone on Sprint.
From those clues spotted, I guess it would be easy to jump to the conclusion that it’s headed for Sprint as well, and that the phone being shown off is actually the Samsung Epic Touch 4G. And if that’s the case, then that’s the official first look we’ve been given of the upcoming phone. We’ll just have to wait for an official announcement for confirmation.

Sony has just released a salvo of cameras, and within that rather elite group, the Alpha 77 (a77) sits at the top. The new a77 is the Sony a700 successor, and has a 24.3 Megapixel sensor, but although this number is impressive, it has other features that are even more interesting.
Video capture with auto-focus: First, this camera has a stationary translucent mirror that lets light go to the main sensor and the auto-focus sensor at the same time. This means that the mirror does not have to ever move the mirror. This is particularly interesting for capturing video with full auto-focus. Although it is possible to work around it, the lack of auto-focus is a huge weakness of DSLR video shooting in my opinion.

Less than a hour ago, Steve Jobs sent this letter via his public relations:
?I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple?s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple?s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Steve ?
Like the whole consumer tech industry, we all wonder what will be the future of Apple without its visionary and charismatic leader. We can expect Steve Jobs and his paranoia to have well prepared its succession, carefully selecting the leader who will step in his shoes and designing the Apple future roadmap with attention. However, knowing that in the highly competitive consumer electronics space, execution is key, we all wonder how that will go.
The task will be a lot easier now that Apple has gained a such dominating position in mobile computing, with huge profit in high-end laptops (over $1000), and very large market share in the smartphone and tablet segments.
At the moment Steve Jobs is not completely gone, and chances are that he will be involved in the most critical decisions of the company.

If you have been using Google Docs, you have probably noticed that inserting an image can be much more painful than doing a copy/paste from an imaging up. Microsoft Word works like that, but unfortunately, Google Docs doesn’t and its web nature has probably something to do with it. The solution is to build a web clipboard, of course!
Starting from today, Google Docs for Android gets juts that. Mobile users will be able to “copy” (upload) a photo to the web clipboard so that it can be easily inserted to a Google Docs document. The web clipboard has been in the web version of Google Docs since February 2010, and it was originally designed to copy/paste complex objects from one Google Doc to another. This still doesn’t help one copy things from Photoshop or other offline imaging apps, though.
For step by step instructions on how to use the web clipboard on Android, head to the official announcement from Google.
