Phone fingers are real dumb

Phone fingers are real dumb

The Phone fingers are one of the silliest ideas in the world IMHO, being prophylactics for your digits in order to prevent smudges on your iPhone screen. You can choose from small, medium, large and extra large sizes, where a bag of 25 will retail for $15. I can think of a much cheaper solution though - simply cut out tips from a rubber glove and you're good to go. Imagine wearing these to your high powered business meeting while looking stupid like all get out.

Parrot DF770 digital photo frame

Parrot DF770 digital photo frame Parrot has just announced its DF770 digital photo frame, and unlike many other Parrot products, this one does not come with Bluetooth connectivity. Instead, it boasts a SIM card that is placed into the frame itself, making it the first MMS digital photo frame in the world. The reason behind this setup enables the user to share photos with other folks who have this frame simply by sending them an MMS. Not only that, there are traditional connectivity options such as USB and an SD memory card slot. This 7" leather frame would look elegant on any coffee table, making this one interesting gift idea this Christmas. No word on pricing, but it will be released before the holiday season is over.

Barbie BAR710 iPod docking system

Barbie BAR710 iPod docking system

Barbie has brought along her eclectic pink color to an iPod docking station known as BAR710. Not only do you get audio pumping out from its eye-gouging pink speakers, the BAR710 also comes with a digital clock function and a 4-digit LCD readout display. Audiophiles are highly recommended to avoid this at all costs since you would probably get puny sound, but little Rachel would definitely love it, inviting Ken over for a little tea party with romantic music playing in the background.

Samsung Blackjack 2 Hands-On

Samsung Blackjack 2 Hands-On

Being long-time Blackjack users (read our Blackjack review), we had to play with the BlackJack 2. Let me tell you that it is a sexy phone. Samsung evolved its previous thin design by making it look classier, thanks to a new coating. I especially like the red version, which shows the new surface a lot better. The back of that version feels like a faux-leather, which is nice, I thought.

Among the other physical improvements, one can find a better QWERTY keyboard and a scroll wheel that replaces the jog on the right side of the original Blackjack. The phone feels fast and Windows Mobile 6 looks better in everyway compared to its predecessor. Inside, a GPS will come handy when used with Google Maps.

If you’re a Windows Mobile fanatic, you should check the iMate 9502, 8502 and i-mate’s plan to create a “Foleo-like” display/keyboard combo.

Hitachi looks toward steering wheels

Hitachi looks toward steering wheels

No, the company isn't planning to integrate some audio system into your car's steering wheels, instead it hopes to incorporate its own finger vein authentication system that has already made its way to computers and ATMs. This system works on the principle where every finger has a unique vein configuration that can be read by near-Infrared light along with image sensors. This helps keep your car secure, and allows you to customize the various vehicle settings such as air conditioning, chair position and radio station presets simply by referring to the profile based on your veins. Guess the whole vehicle will need to be electronically advanced in order to remember those different driver profiles, so the majority of vehicles with manually-operated seats and air conditioning systems won't be able to benefit from this.

Sky Garage not too far off

Sky Garage not too far off New York is one densely populated city, cramming in 1.5 million people into a land area that measures a mere 22.96 square miles. This makes parking a pain in the rear, and property developer 200 Eleventh Avenue is planning to build a 19-story residential building in Chelsea on the west side of Manhattan, featuring personal "sky garages" for residents' cars. It has been hailed as “New York's first En-Suite Sky Garage”, letting occupants enter and exit their apartments without coming into contact with other residents. Sounds like living there just got a little more colder among fellow humans, eh? These sky garages are accessed via a street level door, which subsequently leads to a key-lock car elevatoro. This elevator will bring the driver straight to a 300 square feet garage space that is attached to their luxury apartment.
