Our sister-site Uberphones reports that Samsung will roll out a Windows Mobile 6 update for Blackjack owners later today – at 5pm to be precise. The download page is here, but it is still featuring Windows Mobile 5, until then.
We will test it later today, so come back to get more details from us.

The graph shows Blu-Ray and HD-DVD hardware sales for the first two weeks of January. Looking the recent data (on the right), you pretty much get how bad this is getting for HD-DVD, if you still care. Many consumers would wait prices and combo-drives are ubiquitous, but if you can’t wait, then this is pretty good indication that HD-DVD is hosed.
When we talked to Samsung, they said that a dual-format drive was only 10% to 15% more expensive to make, and that they could “easily” go back to a single format, if necessary. There’s no need for drama, and may be we’ll stop hearing about this soon. Interestingly enough, there are 11 DVD formats (R, RW+, RW-…), but thanks to combo drives, nobody cares.

”You get the large display of e-reading, the super battery life of e-reading, and the high-end connectivity … and the form factor and weight of a mobile phone,” (link – Karl McGoldrick, Polymer Vision CEO)
That sums up the idea behind the device, but the specs (in the full post) aren’t so impressive. From the screen size to its resolution, I’m having a hard time to see it as the ideal eBook. Obviously, the content distribution is the other side of a good media device. It is not hard to imagine that Amazon will have the upper-hand on distribution content in the short term.

Motorola reported that sales of mobile phones dropped by 34% in the last (and best?) quarter. The company has not explained why the drop happened and we can only speculate that the drop occurred across the phone line-up. A few sites were commenting that the iPhone was eating Motorola’s lunch, but we don’t believe that they are even in the same market, although there is probably some overlap.
We think that the symptoms can be explained by what we call a “RAZR fatigue”, meaning that the pursuit of re-creating the RAZR’s success using the same ingredients just doesn’t work.

Add to myYahoo!PhotographyBlog has the full review of the new HP B8850 is a brand new photo printer that promises to deliver excellent photo quality at a very competitive price point. Retaining most of the important features from the more expensive and popular B9180 model, the B8850 costs $150 less yet still offers the same print quality, with your photos resisting fading for more than 200 years (according to the manufacturer, we'll get back to you by then...). There’s certainly some very keen rivalry at this price-point, with similar printers on offer from Epson and Canon, but the HP B8850 could be all the photo printer that you will ever need.

Add to myYahoo! After originally being slated for an October 2007 release, GTA IV was delayed until spring, leaving gamers round the world pining for some Liberty City action.
Well, the wait is nearly over and our mates at CVG have been kicking it down at Rockstar's London HQ with the latest version of the game.
They were left wanting when they took it for a spin last year, but now it seems that game is a set to become a stone cold classic.
They say that the framerate is bang on and it looks the nuts. To quote our man: "Niko stands on the waterfront at a dock in Broker. It's the kind of rusty, tramp-ridden area of town you'd expect to find flaming barrels and lots of pigeons and that's exactly what surrounds us here."
It sounds amazing and Rockstar is happy to brag about its achievements. "It's improved in virtually every single way imaginable. When we first showed the game a year ago, we said it was really early - it was the earliest we've ever shown a GTA game. A year later and just three/four months away from release you're looking at a game that's virtually complete."
You can get an even better idea of how the game is set to dominate your life and ruin your relationship by heading over to CVG's monster 4,000 word preview. Just the link below. And check out all the new screens while you're at it too. They're a treat.
