Every guy out there probably loves robots one way or another, and what better way to pay tribute to robots than by erecting a giant statue of one of the most popular robots ever – Gundam? The folks over in Japan have come up with the 18-meter, life-sized Gundam statue, which was previously taken down before. Now the giant robot is back, and it has a giant lightsaber to accompany it, in case anybody decides to take it down again. This giant statue will be located in the city of Shizuoka this July, and is estimated to draw 900,000 visitors and 40 billion yen over the course of 300 days. Not too shabby, even after taking into account the effort to put up such a statue, and make the lightsaber light up, no less.

Add to myYahoo! If you were wondering whether Amazon might be able to see eye-to-eye with Apple regarding eBooks, it looks like there is some hope, as Amazon’s website is currently boasting its Kindle Apps for Tablet Computers, which also supports Apple’s upcoming iPad. It functions similarly to the iPhone Kindle app, with Whispersync technology and allows you to access all of the books you’ve purchased for Kindle. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this development might (or might not) affect Amazon’s Kindle eBook reader. After all, this means that iPad users won’t have much need for a Kindle eBook reader. Do you think that this is a smart move from Amazon, or did the online giant just shoot itself in the foot?

Add to myYahoo! How would you like to be able to customize your phone like how you’d pick accessories for your dress/suit? Gresso, who is already quite established in coming up with luxury devices, is offering a rather interesting way for you to personalize your phone. It now offers an Online Boutique, where you can choose from almost 40 combinations to create a unique cell phone. You can even get your initials or inscription engraved on the inside of the device, just to make sure that there is no confusion who this luxury phone belongs to. The starting price of the phone is $2,200, but if you’re seriously considering getting this phone, the price really shouldn’t be an issue, right?

You might have heard that SanDisk would be announcing something BIG, and it looks like the news is out early. We’re talking about the 32GB microSDHC memory card that was leaked a few weeks back. This 32GB memory card is currently the world’s highest capacity removable memory card for mobile phones, certainly something to boast about. The SanDisk press release trumpets the fact that it can store enough music to outlast 35-round-trip flights between San Francisco and New York before repeating a single song. The card will be available on the U.S. and European sites shortly, with worldwide retail scheduled for next month. The card offers a 5-year limited warranty, and should set you back $199.99. Are you planning to boost your cell phone’s storage capacity with this card?

Here’s a rather cool USB plug concept design, one that should help us tackle the issue of computers constantly running out of USB ports, especially on laptops. The USB connector on this design features both the male and female connectors, allowing you to daisy-chain several USB connections together. Of course, it would look really weird after a few of these are plugged together, so it’s not like you could chain 50 of them together, but it really seems like an innovative design, wouldn’t you say? Perhaps the USB connectors of our future devices will all look like that.
