HTC EVO 3D to receive update before phone is
officially released

Now here is an interesting tidbit – how many phones do you know there are out there which has an update rolled out for it before it is even released to the market? The HTC EVO 3D is one of them, where it is not available on an official basis at the moment, but will already be on the receiving end of an update that will nudge the software version up to 1.13.651.7. Just what does this software update bring? For starters, how about fixing the bug that affects the calendar application?

Loopt u-Deals gives you what you want

Loopt u-Deals

Everybody loves deals, but don’t you just hate it when you’re given discounts to stuff you don’t need? It’s almost as bad as receiving spam. Well, the folks over at Loopt have come up with a solution called u-Deals. Instead of being subjected to receiving discounts for things you don’t want, u-Deals gives you the power to make your own deals instead.

How does u-Deals work? Well, firstly you run the app, which you then select the location where you want the deal (your favorite place to shop, a new restaurant you’ve always wanted to try out but have been put off by the prices), and then you create the deal. The deal is then submitted to Loopt for review. If it is approved by Loopt, users will then get to share the deal with all of their friends (the more friends that take part, the better).

New Verizon data plans in a simple chart form

When it comes to numbers and figures, you can’t really go wrong by stating them down clearly and in plain fashion in a chart. After all, that is a whole lot more effective than poring through a gaggle of words, trying to piece it together graphically in your mind. That’s what Verizon Wireless has done with their new range of data plans, which was leaked from the official training document (where else?). As expected, the smartphone plans will start from $30 monthly onwards, offering 2GB of data (which ought to be enough for light users who do nothing but check mail and surf the occasional mobile website), accompanied by a $10 charge for each extra GB you use. As for other plans, you can fork out $50 and $80 monthly for 5GB and 10GB, respectively.

Angry Birds Seasons: Summer Pignic now on Android
Market

The Angry Birds march goes on, this time you have Angry Birds Seasons: Summer Pignic to (obviously) usher in the summer. Having been spotted as recently as yesterday, we are rather surprised to see it already being made available on the Android Market already. With Summer Pignic, you will be able to collect more stars from another 30 new levels, with more pigs to kill than you can shake a bird at.

Of course, the Android Market isn’t the only place where you can download Angry Birds Seasons: Summer Pignic, but you can also download it from Apple’s App Store as well. Imagine playing a level each day – that means it will take you around one month to complete the whole game.

Magellan Back-Up Camera reduces car reverse
accidents

Magellan Back-Up CameraA large number of cars available on the market today feature rear view cameras that are pretty irreplaceable when it comes to helping drivers reverse their vehicles. It makes parking so much easier and makes sure that drivers don’t hit anything behind them either. Unfortunately a lot of existing cars don’t have this feature, and it costs quite a bit to install. But for owners of the Magellan RoadMate 9055 or 1700 car GPS navigators, we’ve got some good news for you.

Magellan has decided to release a Back-Up Camera designed to work with the RoadMate 9055 and 1700 GPS navigators. Automatically activating when your car goes into reverse gear, it transmits a clear 120-degree rear view from the back of your car right into your GPS device. The Back-Up Camera is both dustproof and waterproof to IP67 standard, so you can be sure that it won’t get damaged by the outdoor conditions. It uses a water resistant (IPX4) transmitter, and wireless receiver to transmit the video to the GPS unit. The Magellan Back-Up Camera is available now for $149.99 (GPS navigators not included).

Pentax Q specifications leak out

The Pentax Q is not even out yet, but that doesn’t mean there is no room for rumors surrounding the shooter. In fact, specifications for the interchangeable lens digital camera have already leaked out, and from what we can tell, this is the model with the smallest and lightest body in the world in its class. First of all, there is the Q-Mount Lens System that offers convenient interchangeability with a range of specialty Q lenses, where you can opt from prime, zoom, and fisheye lenses amongst others.

With 12.4-megapixels of shooting goodness thanks to the Q?s 1/2.3″ backlit CMOS image sensor, it is capable of producing 12-bit DNG RAW and JPG images, while the backlit CMOS sensor makes it suitable for shooting images even in low light conditions.
