Streamline Mushroom Ambiance Lamp

Streamline Mushroom Ambiance Lamp

Spruce up your home or office with the Streamline Mushroom Ambiance Lamp that looks as though it was plucked out from some fantasy world or video game. I suppose Mario has one of these in his bedroom, and it reminds him of popping a mushroom before he turns off the lights and does the horizontal tango with Princess Peach. The Streamline Mushroom Ambiance Lamp will retail for $39.99 a pop.

iRiver P10 hits Korea

iRiver P10 hits Korea

Koreans are blessed yet again as they receive the P10 portable media player from iRiver with open arms, boasting the following (drool-worthy) specifications :-

You will be able to choose from the non-DMB and DMB versions which retail for €200 and €250, respectively. Guess you will be able to import these if you are willing to pay an exorbitant fee for someone to bring it into the US.

Midiator Kit

Midiator Kit

While we've seen that there are still some miles left in an old NES controller, it makes perfect sense not to leave out the much younger (relatively speaking) PS2 controller. This Midiator kit will turn an ordinary PS2 controller for MIDI use, and it works with cheap knockoffs of PS2 controllers as well as wireless models. The analog joysticks will be used to control pitch bend, while buttons trigger notes or toggle controller signals. It functions partially with Guitar Hero, but there is no full compatibility as at press time. Guess DIY nuts will find this to be a more challenging project compared to the Apple NESRemote.

Apple NESRemote

Apple NESRemote

Why not breathe some extra life into your old NES controller? This DIY project allows you to cram in the Apple Remote into an NES controller, resulting in the Apple NESRemote. I guess if you have an ageing Apple Remote, this is worth trying out as it adds another notch in your geeky cap.

Look At Me Keyboard

Look At Me Keyboard

The Look@Me keyboard concept you see here isn't meant for typing page after page of office documents, but functions as the perfect add on for those who tend to do more instant messaging than they should. No idea how it connects to the computer (it looks wireless), but it is equipped with all the necessary buttons required to crank out all emoticons possible, no matter which part of the world you're at. Alas, this is but a design concept only, but hopefully we'll see it be a reality. It is pretty redundant actually, since you can form the same emoticons on any current keyboard.

bBlue Fluorescent OLED is Highly Efficient

Blue Fluorescent OLED is Highly Efficient

Idemitsu and Sony both managed to work together in achieving a 28.5% internal quantum efficiency (IQE) in deep blue fluorescent OLED devices, making this effort the world’s highest level of luminous efficiency for such technology. This is made possible thanks to Idemitsu´s advanced OLED material technologies and Sony’s OLED device expertise. Such technology ought to see a significant reduction in the driving current of blue OLEDs, the main power guzzler when it comes to the three primary RGB colors. This ought to translate into a notable reduction in power consumption of OLED panels, which will definitely be a plus point as OLED TVs of the future are being planned.

iRiver D5 hits America

iRiver D5 hits America

iRiver has slipped in the D5 multimedia e-dictionary quietly without any fanfare, bringing an electronic tome in a clamshell form factor that comes in two memory capacities - 2GB and 4GB, which will retail for $299.99 and $349.99, respectively. These are also the first e-dictionaries in the company's Dicple series to ever be sold in the US. Some of the features include :-

Would you actually fork out that much dough for a portable media player? Granted, it does come with an electronic dictionary in different languages, but how many of us actually need that anyways?

Super Talent Shakes Up the SSD World

We all know that the big selling points of a SSD over a normal HDD are faster boot times, better performance, and shock tolerance. We also know that the reason most of us don’t use SSDs is the price and comparatively low storage capacity. Super Talent ...
