RIM Scheduled Maintenance For North American BlackBerry Users

RIM has been busy sending out scheduled maintenance notifications to admins and carriers as the folks behind the ever popular BlackBerry are preparing to roll out BIS 3.0 to North American users. While you can expect there to be a bit of turbulence, hopefully it won’t affect too many people, as most folks should be sleeping during that timeframe anyways. Let’s wait and see what happens, and hopefully the transition will be painless. Details and timeframe of the maintenance include:

Cubely 3D Printer

Cubely 3D Printer

The Cubely in an interesting 3D printer that uses 80/20 girders for its chassis, and if you’ve been thinking of a 3D printer, the Cubely can be used to directly manufacture or can be used to create the precursors to large volume traditional manufacturing, including vacuum forming, injection molding, casting and others. The best part is, the core device must be able to be built using standardized, commodity components that are widely available and under $1,000, making it more accessible to folks. The main goal of Cubely is to get 10,000 Open Hardware 3D printing devices in the hands of 10,000 people worldwide by Jan 1, 2013. Sounds like a lofty goal, but it’s good to aim high, right?

HP Flexible Display Shown On Video

HP Flexible Display Shown On Video

With the world being obsessed with super slim gadgets, it’s going to be great news to many folks to see that HP is able to show a flexible display on video. While the display itself is flexible, the company isn’t looking to create rollable displays with this technology, not to mention that the material would only be able to survive being rolled up about half a dozen times or so, but the technology can certainly be used to make displays thinner and lighter, and we certainly have no objection against that, do you? Check out a video on this after the jump.

Sony Ericsson Preparing New Touchscreen Walkman Phone?

While Sony Ericsson seems to have placed a lot of focus on Android-powered phones recently, it seems that the company has not forgotten its popular Walkman series. Exact details aren’t available just yet, but considering the importance of phones playing the role of an MP3 player nowadays, we’re certainly looking forward to seeing what Sony Ericsson comes up with. GameBone iPhone Gamepad Accessory

GameBone iPhone Gamepad Accessory

If you think that your iPhone needs a little something extra in order to challenge Sony’s PSP, or Nintendo’s DS, the Gamebone gamepad accessory for the iPhone might be just the thing. It does seem to turn your iPhone to something resembling a PSP, so that’s probably good news, considering that the PSP looks quite good. Aside from the gamepad, the Gamebone actually goes the extra mile by offering an additional 2000mAh battery on board for extra gaming hours, built-in stereo speakers, omni-directional mic, and a (probably unnecessary) 3.5mm headphone jack. There isn’t any official pricing mentioned, but the Gamebone is apparently scheduled to be launched in Q4 of 2010.

Artificial Smile Camera Gives You A Smile

Artificial Smile Camera Gives You A Smile

Not everybody wants to smile at the camera, but if you’re the type of person who likes to capture a smile on a person’s face, then the Artificial Smile camera is what you’re looking for. Designed by two designers from the University of the Arts, Berlin, the camera would recognize frowns and replace them with an artificial smile, making it look like the person is actually smiling. Of course, if your eyes are blazing with anger or something, we doubt that the camera can do much for that, but as they say “for everything else, there’s Photoshop”, right?

Hublot Liberty Bullet Pocket Watch

Hublot Liberty Bullet Pocket Watch

If you think your timepiece doesn’t make you look manly enough, the Hublot bullet pocket watch might be just what you’ve been looking for. While we’re not trying to indirectly encourage you to go on a rampage in your neighborhood, it might make you look more appealing than the current Hello Kitty watch you’re wearing. It’s christened “Liberty”, and houses a Tourbillon, making it look very cool. The build sports a titanium bullet head, as well as a black aluminum base. This timepiece can be worn on a bracelet, or as a pendant. Would this make it into your Christmas wishlist, or are you looking for something more traditional?

Sprint's Overdrive Ad Makes Fun Of AT&T

Sprint's Overdrive Ad Makes Fun Of AT&T

Sprint’s Overdrive probably isn’t what you think of when you hear the term “iPhone 4G”, but check out the video (in the full post), and you’ll see what we mean. It seems that Verizon Wireless isn’t the only carrier out there to make AT&T the butt of its advertising jokes. According to the advert, the iPhone is a cool phone just that it’s held back by AT&T’s poor connection. With Sprint’s Overdrive, you’ll get your own personal Wi-Fi Hotspot, which should offer a faster connection speed. Even if you don’t own an iPhone, it’s still a funny ad, worth a watch.

Check out our Sprint Overdrive review.
