Hi-tech sports medicine is becoming cheaper by the day and finding its way into more and more homes of weekend warriors and folks who just want to have more control of their health. Add to myYahoo! The Dual Electronics XGPS300 GPS Cradle for the iPod touch was announced a few months back, and it has taken a while, but the device has finally started to ship directly from Apple. It’s currently going for $199.95, and will come with the obvious built-in GPS receiver, rechargeable battery, speaker, NavAtlas US/Canada map app. It might seem a tad more expensive that some of the dedicated GPS devices in the market, so you might want to think carefully before you drop your hard-earned money for this. That being said, granting your iPod touch GPS capabilities is certainly cool, right?

While it doesn’t look like we’ll have one of these in our backyard anytime soon, this solar-powered blimp is still something worth dreaming about. This is really a high-altitude reconnaissance and surveillance platform dubbed the Integrated Sensor Is the Structure (ISIS). It is capable enough to hover over the horizon near conflict zones, feeding real-time radar data to troops and smart weapons. It’s fully automated, and is designed to fly automatically to any point on the planet within 10 days. When hovering at the height over six miles, it’s safe from most ground-based attacks, which is important if you want to keep it floating in the air. The blimp is designed to be self-sustaining, thanks to its ability to harvest solar energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, which can then be combined in a fuel cell to generate the necessary electrical energy. It’s estimated that the blimp will be able to take flight around 2014. Unfortunately there isn’t any estimated date as to when we’ll be able to buy one of these personally.

Add to myYahoo!Sony Xperia’s X10 might be just around the corner, but that doesn’t make any unboxing event of the phone less exciting. Now a video of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming flagship phone being unboxed has surfaced online. The phone is still powered by Google’s Android 1.6, which is obviously older than the current Android 2.1, and Sony Ericsson has done a good job to pretty up the OS. Rumors are hinting that Sony Ericsson might be updating the OS version on this phone, so there might be hope of getting Android 2.1 on this device just yet. Have you decided to pick this phone over Apple’s iPhone, or do you still think that the iPhone or Google’s Nexus One is more appealing? Video of the phone being unboxed after the jump.

Add to myYahoo! We still need to wait for some time before we’ll be able to get Adobe’s Flash 10.1 on Android 2.x devices, but that doesn’t stop videos of folks who have managed to get Adobe’s Flash 10.1 running on Google’s Nexus One from surfacing. As can be seen from the video (after the jump), Flash seems to be running rather comfortably on the Nexus One, and is almost as good as on the desktop, albeit with a little bit of lag, but that’s probably due to the 3G connection used to stream the video. Is getting Flash on your mobile device a top priority for you?

Nobody likes queuing at the supermarket waiting for the cashier to scan the barcode on your purchases one by one. Considering that RFID is getting more and more accessible, hopefully we’ll see RFID freely available on every item in the stores, thanks to science. Now researchers from Rice University and Sunchon National University have introduced printed RFID tags made in carbon nanotubes, and the entire process is easy and economical as barcodes. When the RFID transmitter can be embedded into the packaging of the product, we can happily kiss barcodes (and hopefully queues) goodbye at supermarkets. There are still a couple of hurdles preventing this from becoming commercialized, but hopefully the researchers are able to use their smarts to overcome said hurdles.
