Add to myYahoo!Konami just released the official Metal Gear Solid Rising gameplay footage that explains how the controls work and what the player can do. If you’ve been following E3 for the past couple of years, you probably know that Metal Gear Solid Rising (MGS Rising) features a 3D-engine that allows the player to cut any target objects in a realistic way. This is typically very difficult as most polygonal objects in games are normally solid and hollow. Konami did a great job with this.
On the surface, the game itself is a fancy beat-them-up not unlike God of War, Heavenly Sword and other titles of that sort, except that MGS Rising features its own fancy combo hits and finish. Raiden, the main character from Metal Gear Solid 2, was a little boo-booed when he popped into the series (well, it’s just hard to replace Solid Snake…) but this may be the title that will make him enter the video game Hall of Fame. What do you think? Is Konami’s Raiden character ready for a main role?

The developers behind the Sparrow app for Mac and the iPhone are announcing that their 5-person company has just been acquired by Google. Sparrow CEO Dom Leca confirmed the acquisition over the company’s blog. Leca said that its team will be joining Google’s Gmail team to “accomplish a bigger vision” that the company believes will be achieved better with Google on its back.
Over at the App Store, Sparrow also confirmed the deal, adding that no features will be released – except for minor bug fixes – as the team will be working on new projects at Google. “We?d like to extend a special thanks to all of our users who have supported us, advised us, given us priceless feedback and allowed us to build a better mail application. While we?ll be working on new things at Google, we will continue to make Sparrow available and provide support for our users,” Leca said.

Add to myYahoo! If 7″ tablets are too small for your liking and you’re thinking of picking up a larger Android slate, you might want to hold out for Huawei’s upcoming MediaPad 10.1. Introduced at MWC 2012, the Android tablet is slated to hit the stores this August and to remind consumers about the tablet, Huawei has just released a new teaser video showing off the key features of the device. In case you forgot what the tablet has, it features a 10.1 1080p HD display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, Huawei’s 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and Android Ice Cream Sandwich (hopefully Jelly Bean doesn’t take too long to arrive).
The MediaPad 10.1 will also have an ASUS Transformer-inspired feature: the ability to connect to a keyboard dock which turns it into a touchscreen laptop. Pretty neat, I might say. Check out the teaser video of the tablet above and let us know what you think.

This summer’s main sporting event that will be watched by billions around the world would be the London 2012 Olympics, and thanks to the advancements made in technology, we have since moved on from High Definition broadcasting to 3D High Definition live streams. This will be made available to nearly 80% of US TV households in the US thanks to the joint efforts of NBC Olympics and Panasonic, where they will work hand in hand with AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Time Warner Cable and Verizon amongst other cable, satellite and telco providers to deliver 3D Olympic Games coverage right to your very doorstep.
Later this month, the 3D broadcast of the games can be accessed by subscribers of MVPD?s (multichannel video programming distributors) who as of press time, make up nearly 80% of US TV households. This daily 3D programming is not live though, but rather, will be shown on next-day delay. Approximately 242 hours of the 3D broadcasts are said to be distributed through the Media Center. I cannot wait for the day when live 3D broadcast of sporting events will happen in Full High Definition glory on such a global scale though, leading us to ask the question – what’s next after that? [Press Release]
