George Foreman turns pink

pink-george-foreman.jpg

It's the traditional lean-mean-fat-reducing machine, and it will still grill-the-heck out of meat or veg for you while draining away the grease, but this George Foreman has turned a delicate shade of pink.

So, it will match your pink dishwasher, pink KitchenAid Handmixer and pink Baumatic oven.
And it is currently only £15 from Argos. Bargain!

The solstice shuffle

It’s the Winter Solstice here, though our friends down under are enjoying the summer version. Usually I’d be jealous of our southern hemisphere friends, but it’s been pretty darned mild so far here in New England. The downside of that is that it does not feel at all like Christmas or Hanukkah. [...]

Comcast Offers PPV Flicks the Day They Hit DVD in

I hardly ever go out, mostly because I don’t have to. I work from home, they will bring pizza and Coke to my door and any geek toys I need to buy come right to the house as well. About my sole need to leave the house is to get on occasional DVD.It seems t...

Gorillapod: Bendy tripod for the perfect shot

gorillapod-additionals.jpgThanks to the Nikon D40 SLR I'm hoping to get for Christmas, I just can't stop being bewitched by camera accessories. Now I'm trying to resist the lure of this Gorillapod for my digicam.

Designed for compact digital cameras, the Gorillapod is a tripod that will work on most surfaces. It has flexible joints which bend a full 360º, allowing you to balance your camera in the perfect position, no matter how complex the shot. As well as being extremely handy, the Gorillapod is compact, and can be coiled, making it perfect to shove in your - non-clutch - bag along with your camera.

If anyone wants to take a wager on me getting the Nikon for Christmas and is feeling particularly generous, they also do an SLR version, right. The digicam tripod can support up to 275g and will set you back $21.99, while the SLR one can take 800g and costs $39.99. You can buy them from Think Geek. (I know, two things in one day. But I was looking at teeshirts and got distracted by toys.)

DigiWifi Digital WiFi Detector

digiwifi.jpgWhenever I move into a new house - which is often, as a renter with itchy feet - the first thing I do is look for local wireless networks I can use while waiting to be connected myself. But if I had a third-generation digital WiFi detector, I could scan for networks while looking around a property, and make my accommodation decisions based (partially) on the information in hand.

On the Digital WiFi Detector's back-lit LCD screen is the next generation of wireless information - in addition to bog-standard network availability and strength information, this gadget can tell you all about security status, channel, and SSID, with multi-network scroll-through options. It detects WEP and WPA encryption, runs on (included, yay!) AAA batteries, and can detect wireless networks from 200 feet away.

You can buy the dinky (65mm x 70mm x 24mm) gadget from Think Geek for a mere $69.99, which in pounds is practically free for something so handy.

Power Pizza adds pizazz to notebook

Power Pizza adds pizzazz to notebookA couple of London-based designers decided to take the popular pizza box and do something cheeky with it, and the finished product is actually a padded notebook carrier that looks like your regular cardboard pizza box at first glance. There is even a faux delivery number located on the side that will fool even the most sharp-eyed librarian when you tote it under your arm when walking into a library. Features include a 100mm protective foam that lines the inside with straps that help secure your notebook, leaving some space at the sides to store various peripherals and accessories. The Power Pizza retails for 35 dollars of the Singaporean variety.
