Kobo Arc now sports 64GB option

Earlier this month, we did talk about how Kobo will be revealing another e-reader this November, calling it the Kobo Arc in the process. There was only word concerning 16GB and 32GB models back then, but it seems that the game has changed, and Kobo will also be throwing in a new 64GB capacity model. This 7″ Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet will arrive in this November in all three capacities, and according to Wayne White, General Manager of Devices, Kobo, “We designed the Kobo Arc to let people focus on the music, eBooks, movies, website and applications they love rather than on the hardware they hold in their hand ? though that is amazingly designed as well. We’ve accomplished this by offering consumers more ? more storage, more customization, more choice ? all in the powerful, attractive and vivid Android 4.0 Kobo Arc.”

New Sony PS3 (2012) announced at Tokyo Game Show

As expected, there is a newer and slimmer PS3 announced at the Tokyo Game Show, where you have a choice of either a 250GB or a 500GB model. Sporting a shrunken and more streamlined design, it would certainly look stunning in your living room. In fact, the new PS3 is around 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the current model, without sacrificing on all the great gaming experiences you would get with it.

Sony hopes that the new SKUs will be able to help the PS3 hit new highs in terms of sales figures, throwing in additional value to boot. For starters, the 250GB PS3 will arrive this September 25th for $269.99, where it will also be a part of a limited edition bundle that carries UNCHARTED 3: Drake?s Deception: Game of the Year Edition and a voucher for over $30 worth of bonus digital content for highly acclaimed digital title DUST 514, with the total combined value exceeding $70.

As for the new and more spacious 500GB PS3, you will have to play your patience card for a little bit longer, as it will come in a limited edition bundle on October 30th alongside Assassin?s Creed III?s release that will be a PS3 exclusive this holiday season. Guess the rumors were spot on after all, will you be picking up the new super slim PS3 even though it has Skyrim: Dawnguard issues?

Cooling Glove boosts athletes performance sans
drugs

The abuse of drugs in professional sports to gain an advantage over the rest of the competition is something that has yet to be fully weeded out simply because it is nigh impossible to happen. Well, an athlete might not be tempted to walk on the Dark Side as he or she can always put on the Cooling Glove. Just what does the Cooling Glove do? At first glance, it looks like a high-tech oven mitt which has been proven to boost sports performance to levels beyond the scope of steroid users, and colleges as well as professional teams who have heard of it have already started to adopt this new technology for their athletes.

The Cooling Glove is made out of plastic, where it will cool a network of veins in human palms which normally function as radiators to help the body expel heat, and this is the approach that Stanford University News took. This cooling method seemed to have erased muscle fatigue regardless of the exercises performed, be they pull-ups, bench presses, running or cycling. The Cooling Glove comes with an airtight seal which enables it to create a slight vacuum, allowing the veins to expand and draw in more blood for rapid cooling via circulated water in the glove lining. It does make me wonder just how many more gold medals Michael Phelps would have picked up at this year?s summer Olympics if he had the Cooling Glove to help him out.

Carerra bicycle helmet fits all head sizes, folds
up like an accordion

If you are an avid cyclist, you would know that one of the most important things to wear when you head outdoors would be a helmet. Not just any helmet, but a fitting one, as one that is too large would do you no good in the event where your head takes a knock, and one that is too tight, well, you certainly would not want to cycle around with a headache, do you? Carerra believes that they have the solution for those on a budget, with their very own bicycle helmet that expands and contracts like an accordion, thanks to an elastic fitting system which will mold the helmet to the rider?s head.

This makes it a perfect fit each time, although for folks who are more concerned with personal hygiene, it will not bother you since you won?t lend out your Carerra bicycle helmet to others in the first place. This helmet sports rigid lateral segments and adjustable straps which will lock into place, allowing it to fit snugly on your head. Each time you remove it, you can press the helmet together so that it shrinks, while reducing the amount of space required in your bag compared to a standard bicycle helmet.

nTobeBox offers gesture controlled TV interaction

I tend to think that out of the three current generation consoles, the Nintendo Wii innovated the most not from the point of graphics, but rather, the way one interacts with the game itself. This has led to other developments like Microsoft?s Kinect that uses your entire body as a video game controller itself. We have also seen innovations in smart TVs that can be controlled through gestures from different manufacturers, and here we are with the nTobeBox from eyeSight Mobile Technologies and Innodigital. Basically, the nTobeBox is a set-top box which enables you to interact with your TV without the need for a remote control, although it receives a little bit of help from the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system that will transform any standard TV into a Smart TV, letting you stream content, apps, perform video calls, enjoy Internet connectivity and intuitive hand gesture recognition to boot.

It seems that eyeSight?s technology will enable ?users comprehensive control over every aspect of Innodigital?s set-top box?, where both hand gestures as well as hand tracking will pave the way for virtual mouse control, yielding full control over the TV as though you had a handheld remote. I do wonder what the sensitivity is like, and what happens when I just want to swat a pesky mosquito buzzing in front of my face? Will that change the channel by accident?
