This modem was specially designed to function with all computing devices equipped with a Type A USB port - that would include the majority of desktops, notebooks, and tablet PCs. This would allow access to BroadbandAccess from virtually anywhere courtesy of Verizon Wireless' national high-speed wireless broadband network. It is compatible with Windows XP and Vista, as well as Mac OS X platforms. You will be able to achieve theoretical average download speeds of 600Kbps to 1.4Mbps, while upload speeds maxes out at 800Kbps. Of course, real world performance is much lower than those figures so don't set your expectations too high. The UM150 USB modem will retail for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two-year agreement. The SATA HDD Stage Rack works pretty much like an iPod dock, except that you place a hard drive inside it in place of an iPod. It accepts both 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives, and works much better in terms of aesthetics and practicality compared to the many SATA to USB adapter cables that are currently available in the market. A button in front is used to eject drives, while a glowing blue ring indicates that the device is powered while doubling up as a power switch. The base alone retails for $47, while extra weight at the bottom to prevent it from tipping over will set you back by another $38.70 in shipping costs.

EU approves phone calls in the air

The EU has decided to allow cellphone calls to be made while you're in the air, ten thousands of feet above the ground courtesy of a new technology that does not run the risk of interference with aircraft systems. This reservation of space for the required airwaves has already been recommended to the EU countries' governments before the system can be fully rolled out. On-board phone calls will be redirected to a satellite, and subsequently transmitted to the carrier's network, resulting in a sky-high price that is on par with your current lofty position. There are limitations to this system though as such phone calls are forbidden whenever the plane is less than 3,000 meters in height.
