Samsung S5 to get FLAC Support

Samsung S5 to get FLAC Support

Samsung's S5 has a new firmware update which stands at version 1.5, throwing in FLAC support which is a pleasant surprise since this lossless codec doesn't seem to receive much love from other manufacturers these days. It is also highly possible that similar support will be found in upcoming Bluewave updates for both the P2 and T10, so keep your fingers crossed.

Asus Eee PC 901 has no WiMAX

Asus Eee PC 901 has no WiMAX

There won't be any WiMAX technology built into the Asus Eee PC 901 according to Asus's CEO this January, but that doesn't mean that the technology won't be available throughout it's lifetime. Apparently, WiMAX will only be made available as an option to contract customers - a wise move considering the WiMAX market does not look like maturing even when the year is over. I wonder just how many cities will offer WiMAX connectivity in the long run?

Mobiado Professional 105 ZAF

Mobiado Professional 105 ZAF

Mobiado released its Professional 105 ZAF luxury phone that will definitely appeal to the bling bling crowd, although I think it is rather tacky. Touted to be the thinnest luxury phone in the world, the 105 ZAF measures a mere 10.6mm thin. It features large pieces of sapphire crystal in the handset's construction from front to back, and has a patent pending single-unit sliding mechanism for a battery cover. Being this thin doesn't mean it is fragile since anodized aircraft aluminum is used on the phone's frame, along with stainless steel buttons. Other specifications include :-

There is no word on pricing or availability, but if you have to ask about the former, chances are you won't be able to afford it.

Cyclepong for Fitness Freaks

Cyclepong for Fitness Freaks

Who knew that a simple video game like Pong could be incorporated into a fitness game between two people on stationary bicycles? Well, that's exactly what is on offer with the Cyclepong. There are two stationary bicycles connected to a computer housed within a wooden cabinet, with a screen in front. In order to move your paddle up and down, you will need to cycle in the appropriate direction. The speed of the pedal's movement depends on just how fast your legs will be able to churn themselves, making this a fun workout session that could potentially make you lose more weight than Wii Fit ever could, although there isn't exactly a wide variety of games to choose from from this platform - just Pong.

Blood-Pressure Sensing Underpants

Blood-Pressure Sensing Underpants

Looks like a pair of underpants isn't just meant to keep your privates in place anymore these days, as scientists have come up with a rather novel method of sensing your blood pressure, by including a blood pressure sensing system in a pair of underpants. These sensors are sewn into the waistband of the person's underpants, and will get to work detecting the wearer's "pulse wave velocity" which is closely linked to blood pressure. This enables the garment to calculate the blood pressure continuously as long as it is worn. No idea when this idea will be commercialized though.

Vosonic VP5700 a PMP and More

Vosonic VP5700 a PMP and More

The Vosonic VP5700 is a true monstrosity of a device, both in terms of size and features. Granted, it isn't exactly the nicest portable media player to look at (far from it, actually), and is probably a pain to lug around, but in addition to its 3.5" display and support for a wide range of audio and video files, the VP5700 has the advantage of a multi-memory card reader, allowing you to plug in virtually all known memory cards without any hassle. There is no word on pricing and availability, but this probably won't make it to the most wanted gadgets of the year list.

Digital Picture Frame holds Pet Ashes

Digital Picture Frame holds Pet Ashes

If you love your pet so much and decide to have it cremated, where else to place it's beloved ashes but in a beautiful urn? This idea goes one step further, as it comes in the form of a digital picture frame that can hold up to 75 pounds of pet remains, featuring a 7" display and 256MB of storage space for you to share your blissful memories in photo or audio form. 256MB is rather paltry these days, so I guess displaying photos will be a much better idea since you might be too emotionally distraught after listening to Lassie's barks on loop. The Pet-Urns, creepy as they are, will retail for $249 a pop.

Teclast T50 has Multi-touch Display

Teclast T50 has Multi-touch Display

The Teclast T50 will come with a multi-touch display, making it join the exclusive club headed by iPod touch. Not surprisingly, the T50 shares a rather similar software interface to Apple's iPod touch, including recognizing multi-finger input and swipes with two fingers to zoom through images. Flicks as well as other quick gestures also work like magic as the interface is sensitive enough to recognize such movement. Other features include :-

The T50 is still incomplete, and here's to hoping it will be a worthy choice to challenge the iPod touch. I guess this won't come with WiFi though.

You also have the power to create and disable passcodes, while monitoring exactly who and when the door was accessed.
