It looks like the Chinese aren’t good for only selling imitation smartphones and tablets ? according to reports online, they’re even getting away with creating fake books now. The official Steve Jobs biography is set to be released later this year, but if you wander the bookstores in Taiwan now, you’ll be able to pick one up for about $8 ? albeit it won’t be the real deal, though that hasn’t stopped the book from being rated one of the top 5 best selling financial books in a Taiwanese book store named KingStone. It has sold over 4,000 copies and made about $39,000 (over 1 million New Taiwan dollars) so you could say it’s doing pretty well.

HP may have decided to terminate its webOS devices but that doesn’t mean existing tablets that have already been built will magically disappear. And since they won’t be selling anymore webOS tablets in the future, they’ve decided to get rid of the existing tablets the fastest way they know how to (well, second fastest if you include incinerating them all) ? by having a fire sale!
In a memo that was sent out to HP affiliates today, the company has announced that the price of the TouchPad tablet will be reduced by 70-75%! Starting tomorrow (and in some stores, today) you’ll be able to purchase the 16GB TouchPad at $99 and the 32GB TouchPad at $149. No word about the 64GB model though. Talk about low, low prices! Taking into consideration the average cost of a digital photo frame or an eBook reader and you know you have a great deal on your hands. Maybe the sudden surge in sales will make HP reconsider their decision. Will any of you be picking up the TouchPad now that it’s going to be dirt cheap?

If you’re interested in building your own set of Plasma Speakers, but you’re having trouble finding the parts and instructions ? you’re in luck. A group of students who call themselves StudentRND want to teach you how to make Plasma Speakers of your own, and best of all ? they’ll be providing you with the parts. Unfortunately they can’t give you everything for free, and that’s why they started a Kickstarter project page to help fund it.

Not long after the final build of Windows Phone 7 Mango leaked out in the wild, we have an “official” statement from Microsoft’s Mobile Business Group director, Peter Wissinger, saying that Mango is has been completed. According to a comment he wrote on Facebook ? Mango has been completed ahead of schedule and it’s now up to the manufacturers to get it out to their handsets.
This is great news, seeing how manufacturers (except Nokia) don’t really get to customize Windows Phone, this should mean a pretty fast rollout for the update. After all, the leaked build has already been confirmed to be working for most devices; manufacturers won’t have to go through a lot of trouble to make it work. Stay tuned for official announcements about the update rollouts. How many of you are excited yet?

Add to myYahoo!By Carole Sinclair I’m just as un-keen on exercise and work as the next… well… everybody. So picking off these two birds with one stone is always the dream. Our desk-based work days have been blamed for their fair share of our oft-lamented ‘sedentary lifestyles’, and solutions like those office-chair-bouncy-ball-thingys don’t suit everyone’s tastes. It looks like advertisements of the future might be taken to a whole new level thanks to a company named Flingo. The San-Francisco based startup has come up with a technology to make ads more relevant and interesting to the web surfers all over the world. Many people surf the web and watch TV at the same time, and Flingo’s new technology is aimed to take advantage of that fact.
Called Sync Apps, this technology will be fed with information that’s passed to it from an internet-connected TV that is sharing the same internet connection. Sync Apps collects information on whatever is currently being shown on the TV i.e. what movie, program, and uses those details to enhance your web surfing experience.
