The Uberphones crew at our sister site that deals with all things cellular, have put together their brains which have been battered by prolonged cellular phone use to pen down a few words on cellphone etiquette, or rather, the lack of it. Is it just plain ignorance on the part of users, or does the bastion of basic etiquette remain off limits when it concerns cellphone usage? Read more about it here.

Cornell University researchers have managed to build OLEDs that function like solar panels while retaining all the qualities and functionality of an OLED, including being thin and flexible. The researchers used reverse engineering to turn light back into electricity in the OLED itself. The very idea bodes well for a plethora of electrical goodies such as cellphones, digital cameras, and portable media players as they can recharge themselves when idle. Of course, such technology is currently in its zygote state, so it will take a fair amount of time before something commercially viable can be produced.

Things do not seem to look up for Microsoft's upcoming Zune portable media player. Reports show that the Zune's battery is good for 12 hours of audio and 3.5 hours of video, and these numbers are a wee bit lesser compared to Apple's 30GB iPod which offers an extra 2 hours of music and 30 minutes of video in comparison. The larger LCD display and WiFi would seem to be the main culprit. Will any of you iPod owners out there purchase a Zune when it is released? Hopefully Microsoft's Zune will not have a shelf life that is as short as its battery life.

You can't go time traveling with the new Time Machine Plasma and LCD TV range from LG, but you sure wish time could stop as you try to finish watching all the recorded shows on either display. The Time Machine LCD TVs are available in 37" and 42" models, while those who want a larger viewing area can opt for the Time Machine Plasma versions that measure 42" and 50". These home theater candidates come with an integrated Digital Video Recorder (DVR) which enables the user to pause, record, and replay TV programs a couple of minutes after the original broadcast. The internal 80GB hard drive is good for storting up to 40 hours of standard-definition video. The inclusion of an HDMI interface makes connectivity easier and more convenient. There is no word on pricing at the moment.
