Samsung has released its new optical disc drive known as TruDirect SE-S204S, enabling consumers to create DVDs as well as burn digital content through a PC minus the need for a hard drive. This sounds like the perfect accessory to have for those who want to create DVDs in record time from virtually any digital video device. Since it doesn't rely on any hard drive, the TruDirect SE-S204S does not have to deal with pre-mastering, multiplexing or hard-disk buffering, dramatically cutting down the time required to create a DVD. For example, it takes only an hour andfive minutes to create a one-hour video stream on a DVD, while an hour hard drive camcorder file requires just 30 minutes to create a DVD. Other features include 20X DVD+R and DVD-R writing, 16X DVD+R Dual Layer writing, 12X DVD-R Dual Layer writing and 12X DVD-RAM writing. The Samsung TruDirect SE-S204S will retail for $159.99. The Amazon Kindle is no vaporware as confirmed by Newsweek's cover story, and from there we've also discovered the Kindle will retail for $399 and come with a 6" E-ink display and EV-DO "Whispernet" on Sprint for anytime, anywhere book purchases. Books will retail for $9.99 a pop, and there will be plans for users to subscribe to papers as well as "selected blogs" for an undisclosed monthly fee. There won't be any backlight with the Amazon Kindle though - so you can forget about reading in the ark. Word has it that the Kindle will come with a 30 hour battery life, taking a mere two hours to recharge. Would you pick this up at that price point?

Japanese will soon be able to get their hands on the Rex-WUSB1 Wireless USB CardBus card that has been specially manufactured to operate between the 3.6GHz and 3.8GHz waveband. Unfortunately, this wait might seem to be agonizingly long for those waiting to take advantage of wireless USB over an ExpressCard slot since the ExpressCard model will be released only next year - approximately the same time that PC manufacturers will begin churning out WUSB-integrated notebooks. Wireless USB - will it be too late as USB 3.0 rolls out next year?

The Nerf N-Strike Longshot CS-6 is but a sniper rifle that surprises your target with a soft, nerf bullet from afar.
This blaster is more than three feet long and can launch foam arrows up to 35 feet away! Aim with accuracy and precision using the targeting scope. Two quick-reload clips hold a total of 12 STREAMLINE DARTS. There’s even a fold-down bi-pod to help you steady your aim for important shots.
The Nerf N-Strike Longshot CS-6 retails for $29.99 and could be just the toy for little Johnny who can't wait to grow up and join the Marines.

Modstream aims to bring advertising to a whole new level by introducing shopping carts which come with scrolling text displays on the handles itself, allowing advertisers to beam messages to selected stores sans wires. I suppose the messages will change each time you walk through different aisles, tempting you to purchase goods that aren't even on your shopping list to begin with. No idea on when such shopping carts will be used, but that time would require you to be more disciplined than ever when it comes to purchasing items.

While the Sega Nomad was the official portable Sega Genesis, it didn't really take off in the market no thanks to the Game Boy's dominance in the arena along with problems such as short battery life (sounds like the Game Gear, eh?). Tec Toy has come up with a gaming portable media player that retails for approximately $100. Powered by AAA batteries, you get Sonic 2 in addition to 20 classic Sega games pre-loaded - unfortunately, there is no way on changing the game roster in there which is a major drawback. After all, by forking out slightly more, I can pick up a DS Lite or even a Sony PSP that have far more engaging games.

The Maya Single chair looks totally out of this world, but would be great for those who find solace in the bottle, only to grapple with the worst of headaches the next monrning. This architecturally designed chair comes with specially placed 60-watt speakers, a subwoofer as well as a choice between a 32" or 26" screen that hangs off an overhead hanging metal arm that has been accented with natural wood tream. Unfortunately, it doesn't really fully recline so you might want to sleep off the effects of a wild night out on your bed instead.

The YA Edition Laptop from MSI comes in pink and boasts a 12" display, firmly placing this in the ultra-portable category. You also get a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a DVD burner, and an average AMD Athlon 64 X2 Mobile TK-53 processor, all packed in a body that weighs less than 4 pounds. The colors tend to lean towards the fairer sex, with pastel coral pink, lime green and denim blue being the only choices. Each $899 purchase will come with a matching protective case and mouse. Heck, if you throw in your pre-order before the year is over, MSI will even throw in their very own 8GB Multifunctional MP3 player known as the Mega Player 536, featuring MP3 and WMA DRM support, an integrated FM tuner and an SD memory card slot.

Sprinz from Germany has designed a generator that makes use of glass slabs in order to generate heat, and if that isn't enough for you, you have the choice to pick out different themes for it in order to match the interiors of your humble abode. Dubbed the Supratherm, you can use this as a free standing radiator or even wall mount it as some sort of heat-emitting modern art. There is no word on pricing information as at press time, but you can bet your house mortgage that this won't come cheap.

Now ain't this a beauty - a novelty 1963 Corvette replica telephone. You won't be able to send or receive text messages with this, but at least it adds a dash of class to your living room while letting everyone else know just how much of a love you have when it comes to classic cars. Features include a redial button, modular plugs, a horn ringer, and the option to choose between tone and pulse. Unfortunately, the headlights aren't working - it would be cool to have those headlights flash whenever there is an incoming call though. This novelty 1963 Corvette replica telephone retails for $35.50.
