IK Multimedias iRig Mix has been released,
available for purchase for $100

Earlier this year at CES, IK Multimedia revealed the iRig Mix, a portable mixer that allowed for iOS devices to be hooked up to it, thus providing musicians on the go a physical controller on which they will be able to mix their tracks. Granted some music apps come with built-in mixers, but mixing on a touchscreen and actually feeling the physical controls is a totally different story. Musicians and producers probably know what we?re talking about.

For those unfamiliar, the iRig Mix is a portable mixer that lets users connect up to two iOS devices to it, or any other stereo input source along with an extra microphone/instrument input. From there, users will be able to tweak their music to their liking which in turn will be output to the headphone jack at the bottom, and a stereo RCA at the top. On top of that it will also be compatible with IK Multimedia?s apps such as DJ Rig. The good news is that if these features have managed to capture your attention, they are now available for purchase for $99.99. Head on over to IK Multimedia?s website to place your order or for more details.

Court orders Apple and HTC to attend settlement
talks

lawsuitApple is currently looking to settle their legal disputes with both Samsung and Proview, and now you might be able to add HTC to that list. As you guys are probably painfully aware by now, some HTC devices have been held up at the US Customs over an ITC (International Trade Commission) ban that was enacted last year. According to Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents, the US District Court of Delaware has ordered lawyers and other ?decision? makers to get together and to discuss a possible settlement.

At the moment it is not clear who both companies will be sending as representatives, but given that Tim Cook will be present at the Apple and Samsung settlement talks, it would not be completely out of the question for him to make an appearance here as well. In any case these talks are expected to be held a couple of days before the Apple and Samsung talks which will be taking place on the 21st and 22nd of May. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates!

ZTE confirms security hole in U.S. phone

Chinese telecommunications equipment and systems company ZTE said that one of its mobile phone models sold in the U.S. has a vulnerability that, according to researchers, could allow others to control the device. Reuters said that the hole affects the Android-powered ZTE Score and that a researcher described the hole as “highly unusual”. Dmitri Alperovitch of cyber security firm CrowdStrike noted that the hole allows anyone with the hardwired password to access the affected phone. “I’ve never seen it before,” Dmitri added. Word about the hole allegedly surfaced this week from an anonymous posting on the code-sharing website pastebin.com. (more…)

Windows Phone marketshare has reportedly
overtaken the iPhone in China

With China on the rise, safe to say there are many companies looking to break into the market. Microsoft is one of them and they have since launched their Windows Phone platform, along with the accompanying hardware, back in March. Given that Windows Phone does not have the marketshare that iOS and Android in the US market, how will they fare in China? Well according to Microsoft?s COO of Greater China Region, Michel van der Bel, it would look as though the company has managed to achieve a 7% marketshare in the two months since it launched, which we have to admit is pretty impressive. On top of that, it supposedly narrowly edged out the ever popular iPhone which is reportedly sitting at 6%. Of course we expect those numbers to change if China Mobile?s talks with Apple are successful, which could see the official launch of the iPhone on the world?s largest carrier who boasts about 650 million subscribers.

Blizzard apologizes for Diablo 3 launch issues,
real money auction house launch date pushed back as a result

Diablo 3When Diablo 3 launched, safe to say that the game was chock full of bugs, ranging from the mildly annoying to the potentially game breaking. Either way kudos to Blizzard for acting on it promptly and getting the servers up to speed, which I can personally attest to is up and running just fine (at least on my end). However given that there were many players upset, Blizzard has since issued an apology for the bugs and server issues. (more…)

Electric Imp promises to connect all consumer
electronics wirelessly

In 1999,  British technology pioneer Kevin Ashton  co-founded the Auto-ID Center at MIT, a global standard system for RFID and other sensors. His vision – to create the “Internet of Things“, a concept of a system where the Internet is connected to the physical world via ubiquitous sensors. Today, a technology that promises to turn any electronic product into a connected device via a tiny card in a slot is bringing us closer to that concept. Former iPhone engineer Hugo Fiennes, ex-Gmail designer Kevin Fox, and firmware engineer Peter Hartley developed what they call the Electric Imp. (more…)
