Instead of pressing the button to just ring the bell that would start Facebook?s NASDAQ trading, Mark Zuckerberg had something else up his sleeve. To spice up his ?bell ringing? endeavor, he apparently worked closely with Facebook engineers that rigged the button which NASDAQ brought to Facebook?s Menlo Park headquarters on Wednesday to a cell phone that was connected to the internet and signed into Facebook. The button and the phone were apparently connected via the smartphone?s headphone jack and after some intricate work to get the timing absolutely right; they managed to get it to work.

The HP TouchPad has once been offered by stores at $99 but this time around, Woot has come up with a one-day sale for the 32GB variant of the device for $195. The sale which will only be in effect today, includes a refurbished 32GB TouchPad but reports online indicate that eBay searches for a refurbished 16GB HP TouchPad have spat out prices of nearly as high as $275 while for the 32GB variants the prices have been close to $500. Perhaps that has put things into perspective a little.

For quite some time now, bits and snippets of the late Steve Jobs? life has been trickling down the grapevine. Now it seems there was another one and this is the concept of what could have been an automobile designed by Apple. Apparently, Jobs dreamed of designing what he called an iCar before he died. In an interview with Fast Company recently, Mickey Drexler who is a board member of Apple as well as the CEO of J.Crew revealed the closet-dream that Jobs once had to build an Apple branded automobile.

The folks over at Designaffairs Studio have come up with an extremely thin, foldable speaker called FLYM that is said to be able to work with any device since it is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The design studio claims that the product which is just a prototype for now is the ?perfect on-the go companion since it fits into any pocket, notebook or handbag for convenience?. The FLYM folding speaker requires no additional power and its playback capability lies in the form of a speaker that is reportedly less than a quarter of a millimeter (one hundredth of an inch) thick.

Rumors of a new Amazon Kindle Fire arriving this year have been running rampant. Granted it?s not out of the question for Amazon to refresh the Kindle Fire?s hardware for 2012, but so far based on the rumors, it seems that Amazon could have either two Kindle Fires planned, or they might only release one. Back in March we reported that Amazon was rumored to launch a 7? and a 10? version of the Kindle Fire, but not too long ago there were reports of an 8.9? Kindle Fire, making us wonder just which piece of rumor made the most sense to us.
Unfortunately we were unable to answer that and thanks to the folks over at DigiTimes, the rumored 8.9? Kindle Fire has been suspended in favor of a 10.1? model. Given that nothing has been confirmed, it?s hard to feel bummed out about a device that may or may not exist. Either way the publication has also stated that the 10.1? model will be shipping alongside a 7? model and will most likely be launching in the third quarter of 2012. With models swapping in and out, it?s hard to say who?s right but given DigiTimes? track record, taking all of this with a grain of salt for now is probably a good idea.

If you own the Sony Tablet S, you?re not doubt enjoying the Android 4.0 update right now. Unfortunately if you purchased the Tablet P, you?re probably still running on Android 3.2 Honeycomb unless you?ve managed to flash an Android 4.0 ROM onto it. If you didn?t because you?d rather wait for the official update, the wait might soon be over. Sony Japan has announced that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Tablet P will begin rolling out come 24th of May, about a month after the Tablet S. However it should be noted that since the announcement was made in Japan, we have to wonder if the update will arrive in Japan first, or if like the Tablet S, it will begin updating in both Japanese and international markets simultaneously. Either way come 24th of May, be sure to connect your tablet to a WiFi network and check to see if the OTA update is available. Until then be sure to check back with us as we will keep you updated on its progress!

Professional athletes are no doubt always on the lookout on how to best optimize their performance, and cyclists are one of them. Given that cyclists tend to wear glasses during their races, Jon Cleave has come up with the Oakley GPS concept, an eye-wear based on the design of the currently favored model. Utilizing an OLED micro-display lens, the Oakley GPS will provide the cyclist a wide range of information that they can use to help track, monitor and ultimately improve their performance. (more…)

Fans of games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band were no doubt pleased that they were able to play something similar on their iOS devices, i.e. Tap Tap Revenge. While that?s certainly fun to play, will all that tapping and drumming damage your iOS? screen? We?re not sure how many iPhone screens we?ve seen broken due to too much Tap Tap Revenge, but if you?d rather not take the risk, and if you?d prefer a physical controller as well, Dream Cheeky might have something for you in the form of the iDrum.
This physical drum pad offers gamers a seven piece ?drum kit? that?s about the size of Apple?s wireless keyboard. It will pair with your iOS device via Bluetooth and according to the company, not only is this a viable controller for some musical games, but it will also be able to teach the player how to actually play the drums. We?re not sure how accurate those claims are, but if the iDrum sounds like an accessory you wouldn?t mind checking out, Dream Cheeky is currently taking pre-orders for it and $70 will net you the device when it starts shipping on the 31st of May.

It wasn?t too long ago when Sony announced the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale game. For those unfamiliar, think Nintendo?s Super Smash Bros except with characters from Sony?s franchise of games, like Kratos from God of War and Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal. The game was announced for the PlayStation 3 and safe to say there were probably gamers disappointed that it wasn?t announced for the PlayStation Vita, Sony?s latest and newest handheld gaming console. However all of that might soon change.
In an interview with Digital Trends, when asked if the game could be arriving on the Vita console, Omar Kenall, the game?s director was quoted as saying, ?Maybe? Stay tuned.? With E3 expected to take place next month, could Sony be announcing the Vita version of its PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale? We guess we will have to wait and find out! In the mean time, who else is excited about the prospect of the brawler game headed onto the PS Vita?
