Two of HTC’s upcoming devices for Sprint have had their specs leaked, according to some reports online. Whether or not the specs are the real deal is yet to be confirmed, but from what was revealed so far, the EVO 3D will be the rumored HTC Shooter and will be HTC’s debut entry into the 3D smartphone category. It features a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon MSM8660 processor, a 4.3″ glasses-free 3D display (540 x 960), dual rear 5 megapixel cameras that can record 3D video in 720p and will support YouTube 3D as well as a Blockbuster 3D movie app. It will also be running on Gingerbread (Android 2.3), pack 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM and a 1,730mAh battery to keep it powered. The EVO View 4G is, as speculated, a rebranded HTC Flyer. And with the 4G in the tablet’s name, you can expect it to support Sprint’s WiMAX network.

According to Wired, their trusted source has reported that Amazon’s app store will be launched on the Android operating system on Tuesday, March 22. The Amazon app store will be accessible as an app on Android devices, or through their website, rumored to be at http://www.amazon.com/apps (that went live prematurely this week but has been removed since then). Amazon’s Android app store will be more akin to Apple’s App Store than Google’s Android Market ? apps sold on it will need to go through an approval process, and will have the option to enable DRM protection to help prevent piracy. Amazon also has payment systems in more countries than Google Checkout, so it means that Amazon will be able to sell paid apps in more locations than the Android Market. Stay tuned for more details.

Google has recently made their search engine a little smarter. Now when you search for the title of a game or a movie, and you include the phrase “release date” at the end of it, Google will try to tell you the release date of the movie or game you searched for. You don’t have to browse through pages of results yourself to find the release date. Google will scour the net looking for release dates from websites all over the internet and will generate a list of release dates for you, saving you time and having to visit multiple sites. At the moment this new feature only works for video games and movies but you can expect it to include more products in the future. Try it out at Google now.

If you have a spare drill lying around the house and you’d like to turn it into something useful or the kids, it’s called the C. H. Hanson 02001 Finish Carpenter Pencil and Sharpener Kit. One of the weirdest drill bits I’ve ever seen around for an electronic drill, what it does is basically sharpen your pencils. While it does the job it was designed for, quite well I might add, it makes you wonder what was going on through the designer’s head when he/she came up with this pencil sharpener. It is available now from Amazon for less than $8 and comes with 4 pencils. Any takers?

If you own a Siberian husky, I’m sure you would know how thirsty those dogs get. Well, a husky owner decided to build an automatic water dish filler so that he doesn’t have to spend so much time each day refilling his dog’s bowl of water. Unsatisfied with the current auto-filling dishes available on the market he diced to build his own solution. Using a kitchen water supply with a standard refrigerator hookup kit, some tubing, and a valve controlled by an Arduino, he managed to create a dish that automatically refilled itself with water whenever the level went below a certain level. So for all you folks with the same issue and are interested in coming up with your own automatic water dish, he’s posted up the instructions online for you to learn from. Hit the break to watch the dish in action:

It looks like rumors about the Motorola Xoom Android tablet coming to Sprint are more truth than fiction. An image of the upcoming tablet has surfaced online ? it basically looks like the current Motorola Xoom, but instead of Verizon’s logo adorning the top right corner of the device, we have Sprint’s logo instead. Other than that, no more details have surfaced, but according to rumors, the tablet will be supporting Sprint’s WiMAX 4G network out of the box, unlike Verizon’s Motorola Xoom that will require an upgrade sometime this year. But seeing how the Verizon Xoom isn’t flying off the shelves, at the moment we wonder how big of a difference will selling it on Sprint make especially when it has to go up against the WiFi-only version that’s arriving later this month. How many of you will be picking up this tablet when it arrives on Sprint?

What you see here is actually the Penguin Ambidextrous Vertical Mouse, and while it looks super weird like all get out, it is actually useful in helping one reduce wrist injuries, including the famous carpel tunnel syndrome as well as repetitive strain injury. Developed by Posturite, this device requires you to grasp the Penguin like a joystick, where it results in the wrist being kept in a natural position – and hence, reducing wrist strain. Moving around like a regular mouse simply by sliding the Penguin over surfaces below, it comes equipped with left and right click buttons, a scroll wheel, and a rocker switch. Having passed through the hoops over at the FCC, the Penguin Ambidextrous Vertical Mouse is tipped to retail for £49.95 and £69.95 for the wired and wireless versions, respectively.

The Rustock botnet is actually an international network of virus-infected computers that has been taken advantage of for years by generating billions of emails each day in order to promote unlicensed online pharmacies and impotence pills. Well, we have good news for the masses – email traffic from Rustock has completely collapsed after Microsoft managed to seize servers that were suspected of covertly controlling more than a million Windows-powered PCs, thanks to the backing of US Marshals to boot. This shutdown scale has been unprecedented, but at least you can now sleep easy knowing that the world’s biggest source of spam is now no longer working and available. We do, however, expect something else to rise up in its place – that is unfortunate, but it is how the world works.

Is 3D gaming about to take off in a big way this year? Some folks sure do hope so. Nintendo has recently launched their 3DS ? a glasses-free 3D gaming console, and the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 started supporting 3D TVs not too long ago. Well this year, more and more games are starting to go stereoscopic 3D, including two upcoming Marvel Comics games. Sega has announced that the Thor: God of Thunder and Captain America: Super Soldier games will be in 3D on platforms that support it. This means the games will be in 3D on the 3DS, PS3 and Xbox 360 (of course you’ll need 3D TVs for the latter two). According to Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sega, “Playing as Captain America with bullets whizzing past in stereoscopic 3D and having a titanic Frost Giant charge straight at you in Thor will bring an unprecedented level of adrenaline to the gameplay experience.” Sounds like a whole load of fun but let’s hope these movie tie-in games aren’t the slipshod titles that we’ve come to expect from most movie-games we’ve had over the past few years.
