The NoteSlate tablet that’s been designed to replace paper as a note-taking device now has a proper webpage that describes the tablet in complete detail. Its specs, how it works and more. The tablet packs a 13″ E-Ink display (750 x 1080) that can be used for writing, drawing, and even as an eBook reader. It also has a mini USB port, SD card reader, a 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi and will run on a Linux-based operating system. Judging from the photos and details provided on the site, this looks like it could be an artist’s dream sketchbook. No more having to deal with the hassles of paper, smudged drawings (although an accident involving water would probably be more drastic with this tablet) or even pencil sharpening. We all know how hard it is to follow another driver sometimes. Due to bad driving habits or unpredictable traffic, it’s very often that one loses sight of the other car and ends up taking the wrong turn. Well now, thanks to Route 66 Maps + Navigation, we won’t have to anymore. This GPS navigation app was launched at the Mobile World Congress and has an impressive feature that other GPS apps don’t have ? Augmented Reality navigation. Using your phone or tablet’s camera, the app superimposes another car on top of it, in addition to a path for you to follow. You can watch the car make turns in advance so you know just where to turn (sometimes navigation read outs can become quite confusing if there are a lot of exits in the same area). While seems like a very useful feature, it does present new hazards to drivers who aren’t good at staying focused on the road ? if a driver focuses too much on the AR display, chances are he/she might not notice the car that’s right in front and may cause an accident. But either way, the app looks sweet, and would serve to be very useful in theory. Route 66 Maps + Navigation will be available later this year. Watch a video of it in action after the break:

Great news for users of Google Docs, everybody’s (well, maybe almost everybody) online document viewer has just been updated to support 12 additional formats. According to a post from the Official Google Docs blog, starting today, the Google Docs Viewer can view even more types of documents than it previously could. Formats such as Excel, PowerPoint, Apple Pages, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and more can be easily opened online straight from your Gmail account without you having to download them and launching a separate program to do the job. The files can also be easily uploaded to Google Docs for easy sharing. Hit the break to check out the full list of new supported formats:

GroupMe has just launched a new feature for their GroupMe app to make life easier to text your friends who are in the same location. When you check into a location with Foursquare and you notice a bunch of your friends at the location as well, but you have no idea where they are (i.e. a huge mall or a concert), just head over to groupme.com/foursquare on your phone and all your friends will be listed there. Select who you want to be in the group and GroupMe will launch with the selected names in the group chat. You can then plan where to meet up and so on. Quite a useful concept that will save time for you and your friends but only if everyone uses Foursquare and GroupMe and remembers to check in everywhere, all the time.

It looks like Android and BlackBerry users have one client less to tweet with on their mobile devices. Twidroyd has been officially suspended according to a Tweet from the official Twitter account. Along with UberTwitter, another well known Twitter client for BlackBerry OS, the apps have been suspended due to violations of their Twitter’s official policies. It hasn’t been mentioned what happened this time around, as Twidroyd has been suspended before. It is uncertain if the clients will ever be modified or updated to comply with the policies, but stay tuned for more details. How many of you use these clients for your tweeting purposes?
