LG Display picks up another “world’s first” with their latest 55″ public display panel that has the narrowest bezel to date – it is so narrow that it creates a gap of just 5.3mm (left/right: 3.4 mm, top/bottom: 1.9 mm) between individual panels when you place them alongside one another. The beauty of such an engineering feat? It is now possible to have your very own 165″ multi-screen public display that are able to produce seamless, life-like images. Not only that, the presence of a narrow bezel would also allow a more visible surface area, helping improve the viewing effect and visual cohesion which more often than not, are the most critical aspect of a multi-screen display.
This 55″ display will also sport Full HD resolution support in addition to a brightness level of 800 nits, delivering vibrant colors and sharp contrast to make sure it is far better than previous iterations. That goes without saying, don’t you think so? Nice to see that LG also has a heart for the environment as well, where this display relies on Local Dimming Technology that consumes up to 40% less juice compared to current products.

Uh-oh. It looks like Microsoft’s latest update for its Windows Phone 7 operating system isn’t all peaches and cream. According to a significant number of reports online, the update has caused the onscreen keyboard to randomly perform disappearing acts when a user is typing. The problem doesn’t seem to be limited to certain phones, which points to it being an issue with the operating system.
Microsoft is now aware of the issue though they’re still trying to determine the root cause of the problem. Users have also been reporting other bugs with the Mango update (increased data usage, Live tiles not updating, battery not updating etc). No word of when a fix will arrive but let’s hope Microsoft won’t take too long ? Mango was supposed to be the savior of Windows Phone, and a buggy release isn’t going to swing things back in its favor. Any of you experiencing the disappearing keyboard issue?

Don’t you just hate it when you’re in the middle of something important and your phone rings ? especially when you forget to put it on silent? Taking the phone out of your pocket just makes everybody stare at you as you fumble to silence the call and turn the phone off. Well, all that can be a problem of the past if Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University’s latest creation turn into a commercial product.

In late September, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the HTC Thunderbolt was released, finally bringing the 4G LTE phone on Verizon up to date with other Android phones out there. Thunderbolt owners jumped for joy, naturally ? but all that excitement was quickly replaced with disappointment because while their phones were up to date, the Gingerbread update introduced a whole set of new bugs to the phone. These bugs included broken voicemail notifications, and Google Talk not working just to name a few.

Add to myYahoo! The new iPhone 4S is not merely an improvement on the already successful iPhone 4. It indicates a radical sleight of the hand in business focus for Apple, away from hardware and onto software and online services. In particular, the iCloud is now an integral feature, and perhaps the chief feature of the iPhone, from [...]

Great news for folks who won’t be able to attend the BlackBerry DevCon this year. For the first time ever, RIM will be broadcasting the presentation live on the internet. The company has just put up a landing page live for the webcast at the BlackBerry DevCon website. For folks keen on watching the live broadcast, you can tune into the BlackBerry DevCon page tomorrow (Tuesday, October 18th) when it kicks off at 8.30am PST.
The show is expected to be broken into two halves: big announcements in the first, and more technical/developer focused content after the intermission. RIM has been rumored to introduce BBX ? the next generation operating system for its upcoming smartphones at the DevCon. The availability of a live broadcast seems to corroborate with the rumors. What do you think? Drop us your thoughts in the comments below.

While there’s only one phone on one carrier that is capable of making payments with Google Wallet, it looks like a lot more merchants are warming up to the idea of having NFC-based payments. Starting today, shoppers at American Eagle Outfitters, The Container Store, Foot Locker, Guess, Jamba Juice, Macy’s OfficeMax and Toys”R”Us will not only be able to use Google Wallet to pay for their goods, but they can use it to get discounts on selected items as well.
No more looking around for coupons or a rewards card ? just bring your phone to the counter, tap it and you’re good to go. The Google Wallet has been updated with a new “Featured Offers” section that features discounts that are only available to Google Wallet users. Chevron, D?Agostino, Faber News Now, Gristedes Supermarkets and Pinkberry have also been reported to be working on implementing Google Wallet support.

One of the main reasons why people using the phone while driving causes accidents is the fact that people take their eyes off the road in order to look at their phones. And in this age of touchscreen phones, the habit is even more prominent than before. Hands-free kits and voice commands have been created to help alleviate the problem but sometimes it just isn’t enough, hence the introduction of car dashboard mounts.
Bracketron, a company known for its various docks and mounting accessories, has come up with a new in-car solution for cellphones called the Cradle-iT Dash Mount. Featuring a powerful suction cup that lets you place it anywhere on your dashboard, and a 360-degree adjustable clamp ? it can make sure that your phone is right in front of your face while you’re driving so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to use your phone.
