USB hub with switches

USB hub with switches

What you see here is but a standard USB hub, although it comes with the added advantage of letting you know which USB cable is connected at a glance thanks to a LED which lights up. Each connection will be equipped with a switch, allowing you to have full control over connecting it or otherwise. Looks a wee bit too bulky for our liking though, but at least you have hardware-side control over your devices with this $88 purchase.

GPS-powered target locator

GPS-powered target locator

British BAE Systems has snagged a $42 million contract to supply the U.S. Army with a lightweight, handheld laser target locator system which is powered by GPS technology. This all-weather device enables soldiers to accurately identify target locations regardless of whether it is during the day or night, and despite having fog or smoke around as well. Dubbed the Laser Target Locator Module (LTLM), it will determine target coordinates by using direct-view optic system, a night-vision camera, a laser range finder, a digital compass, and a GPS receiver. Amazing thing, this, considering all that technology is crammed into a device that weighs no more than 5.5 pounds.

Samsung bada OS screenshots

Samsung bada OS screenshots

Check out the screenshot of the upcoming Samsung bada OS that will target cellphones. Basically, it looks more or less like an adaption of the company's current TouchWiz UI, and will be an open platform similar to Android and LiMo in order to empower developers to tweak and modify attributes of the software design. You will need to make sure your handset has a minimum 800 x 480 resolution display though to get full use out of the bada OS, while multi-touch gestures are supported to keep pace with Apple's iPhone OS. Are you excited yet?
