As I am not a guitarist, I gave the new Line 6 - a company well-known by professional producers, engineers, and musicians - Toneport guitar gizmo to a friend of mine, who shall remain nameless except to say his nickname is "Doctor" (and not because he has a medical degree). We've all settled down a lot since those days.He says he uses the line 6 toneworks "constantly," by connecting his guitar to the toneworks and then through his laptop which he hooked up to studio monitors. The sounds he can get are "amazing" and he reports from guitar central that "the software is simple enough for even an adult to understand." It took him 10 minutes to set it up. The Doctor has the unit synced up with "cakewalk" software (digital recording & mixing platform) to do multi-track recording.
Here's some more of what he had to say:- You can download the latest line 6 guitar patches from the website - there are hundreds of sounds available,- You can get a percussion track running & then jam along with it,- The toneworks interface can be synced with the latest digital recording platforms like "protools" or "cakewalk" so you can record multitrack instrumentals & vocals direct to a hard drive,- It's Windows compatible (at least on XP - Vista may be another story). It's enough to make you want to take up guitar, isn't it?

OK, I have been known to go all girly and simpery over a bag, and this one definitely has the ooh factor. Pretty enough to cart around all your paraphernalia in, and roomy enough to fit your laptop plus wires/cords/random USB devices, this definitely gets the thumbs up. The laptop sleeve is removable, and made of sturdy neoprene, and the bag is calfskin leather with a wax finish. You also get a dinky leather purse with it, to store your coins, and it comes in several colours; luxury pink, indigo blue and blazing red amongst others, so you can mix and match to your hearts delight. Mandarina Duck have produced a luxury laptop bag that wouldn't look out of place on a fashionista's arm, and have made it extra special by making some of the colours limited edition. It's designed to match the VAIO C series laptops, and it complements it beautifully.
