HP isn’t out of the game where handsets are concerned at the moment, and their upcoming phone is not only said to te the smallest, but is also the greatest as well, the HP Veer. It could very well launch sometime early in May, as HP has already sent out invites to an event that they’re hosting on May 2nd, with the guest of honor being the uber small webOS smartphone. Apart from that, invitees were asked to bring an ID badge or “an AT&T/Best Buy Business card,” which could point towards the HP Veer arriving on AT&T in the near future.
This makes sense too if history was to be taken into consideration, since both the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus were part of AT&T’s stable in the past, so it isn’t too surprising to see more webOS-powered devices arriving in the near future. Of course, with May being a couple of weeks away, we do expect to hear more of the HP Veer in the coming fortnight – be it leaks, snapshots or blurry spy shots.

The T-Mobile MyTouch 4G has been one of the more popular Android-powered handsets over at the mobile carrier, and we’re pleased to bring you news that handset manufacturer, HTC, has announced that they will be rolling out an Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the MyTouch 4G in due time.
It seems that a customer who contacted HTC tech support and asked about the MyTouch 4G’s Android 2.3 update, only to be told that it will be coming out soon – although it won’t pass the Q2 mark, so you have until June at the latest before your MyTouch 4G gets some Gingerbread goodness.
Do bear in mind that this isn’t the newest or most powerful Android-powered smartphone in the market at press time, but it is a decent performer, and if you look around carefully, you might even come across deals that see it being made available for free.

News of the Android operating system taking the world by storm is certainly encouraging to advocates of the operating system, and you ought to know by now that Android isn’t just on smartphones and tablets – it is also part of the netbook DNA. Someone apparently spotted a Rockchip RK2918-powered netbook that which runs off the Android OS, so that’s something different from the rest of the crowd.
This netbook is powered by a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor that plays nice with Adobe Flash as well, where it resembles a cheap clone of a Nokia device visually, but that’s not what we’re covering today. It doesn’t seem to be as polished as you would like, since a virtual keyboard appears when you want to type something – which is pointless since there is no touchscreen capability on this 10.1″ netbook.
Perhaps this is just an experiment that has gone wrong, but we do hope to see future versions of this netbook be a whole lot more refined – and ready for the masses, of course.

As promised, Sprint has just launched their dual screen Kyocera Echo smartphone that is powered by Google’s Android operating system, retailing for $199.99 as you tie yourself down to a new two-year service agreement (or an eligible upgrade for current users, of course). Of course, a phone like this will clearly stand out from the rest of the Android handsets that are in the market simply because it boasts two large displays – unlike anything seen before.
With a couple of high-resolution 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen displays that are connected by a durable, patent-pending Super Copper Alloy ?pivot hinge,? the Kyocera Echo lets you take advantage of both displays independently, or you can opt for a side-by-side setup or even combine them to form a tablet-like experience with 800 x 960 pixels in a 4.7-inch (diagonal) display. Apart from that, it can be folded up into a pocket-friendly single-screen configuration if you so desire.
With Android 2.2 Froyo as the operating system of choice, the Kyocera Echo will also be accompanied by Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording capability, 1GB of onboard memory, and a microSD memory card slot, this is one high end handset that hopefully, will have a battery life to go along with two displays. Be prepared for some people asking you whether Sprint has started to sell Nintendo DSes, of course. [Press Release]

Love skiing? You might want to check out something that’s interesting though, the skier controlled tow boat which is unmanned – but that’s the whole purpose since it will be controlled fully by you, the skier. There will be half a dozen buttons on its control panel that is located on the tow rope handle, sending signals straight to the boat so that you can start, accelerate, decelerate, turn, or stop the vessel with but slight thumb movements at your convenience.
The boat is nearly 8-feet in length, sporting a three-cylinder, two-stroke 70 horsepower engine complete with a jet pump and axial flow propulsion that is able to generate speeds up to 40mph while creating wakes for jumps and other tricks. It is said that the jet propulsion engine used is safer compared to propeller-powered crafts, delivering superior acceleration and quicker planing.
The price to pay for such luxury? A heart-stopping $17,000 – now this is truly a toy for the rich and famous.

Touchscreen devices are all the rage these days, ranging from your phones to your tablet devices and even all-in-one computers and tablet notebook hybrids. Well, is there a better way to gain control of your device? The Ringbow “mouse” is a candidate that might just do the trick, coming in the form of a mouse ring that is slipped onto your finger, letting you control context for touch functions. Not only that, it also offers the latent ability of a touchscreen display to know which finger is it that is touching the display.
With the Ringbow on, you will use your thumb to operate it so that you ned not be bound to the actual surface of a touchscreen display in order to operate a computer or tablet. For example, just tap the Ringbow with your thumb in order to activate a right or left click action.
Currently, the Ringbow remains in the prototype phase, so we do hope that someone will come up with something to translate it into a real world device.

We do know that Sprint will be rolling out a WiMAX-enabled version of the Motorola XOOM in due time, but it seems that Motorola is about to approach marketing the XOOM tablet using a “scattergun” method – that is, peppering it across different mobile carriers with hopes that there is a XOOM for everybody, regardless of tax bracket and economic background.
Another Motorola device known as the IHDT56ME1 has arrived at the FCC, where it was described as a ?wireless tablet,? with test reports pointing towards the device supporting GSM 850 and 1900 bands, in addition to WCDMA bands II and V (850 and 1900). If you read between the lines, that would mean the IHDT56ME1 would play nice with AT&T?s 3G bands Stateside, and might just be the GMS version of the Motorola XOOM that will arrive at AT&T.
Of course, if you want a XOOM but don’t want to pony up any money for it, why not give our Motorola XOOM giveaway a shot?

It is time to evict yout collection of videos that are stored over at Google’s very own Google Video service, since over the weekend, the Internet search giant has sent a notice over to users that it intends to shut down the hosting service. This shouldn’t come across as a surprise since Google Video had already stopped receiving uploads of any kind two years back.
It makes sense, as YouTube, the most popular video sharing website around, is already part of Google’s stable of operations, and Google has asked users to migrate videos over to YouTube for the longest time since time immemorial – or something to that effect, you get the picture.
For those who have plenty of videos on Google Video, you might be required to use paging controls that are located on the bottom right hand side of the page in order to access them. Bear in mind this download option will be available through May 13, 2011.

It is said that Formula 1 is the epitome of vehicle technology, where many of the improvements and features found in Formula 1 cars are then transferred over to the average vehicle on the road – including ABS and the ilk. Nissan intends to bring things to a different level with the Leaf Nismo RC (Racing Competition) that does resemble its sedan cousin on the streets in some way, but the similarities end where both of them are electric powered.
First of all, the Leaf Nismo RC will boast of a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque body, where the electric motor, inverter and lithium ion battery pack are all mounted behind the driver’s seat. With a battery pack rated at 80 kWh, it will feed the electric motor which is rated at 107 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque.
According to Nissan, the battery pack is capable of being recharging up to 80% of its full capacity in just half an hour, so your pit stops would be a good excuse to walk around the track and check out other kinds of merchandise you can part with your hard earned money. A full charge will see the Leaf Nismo RC scamper around the track for about 20 minutes in racing conditions, boasting of a top speed of 93 mph. Not hair-raising stuff, but it is a start.
