Porsche 918 Spyder enters next phase, prototypes
begin testing

Porsche has announced that its world’s first plug-in hybrid “supercar”, the 918 Spyder, has just entered the next phase after finishing a series of driving trials. Porsche said that the super car is designed as a plug-in hybrid vehicle that has a high-performance combustion engine and cutting-edge electric motors. The German car manufacturer also mentioned that its racing machine will feature more than 770 HP and a fuel consumption of three liters per 100 kilometers. If you think that’s cool, the 918 Spyder will be sporting a monocoque design made from full carbon fiber reinforced plastic or CFRP.

The 918 Spyder is also reported to feature fully adaptive aerodynamics, adaptive rear-axle steering and an upward-venting “top pipes” exhaust system. Porsche said via press release that its 918 Spyder will be heading to the production line at the end of September 2013, with the first customer deliveries currently scheduled for the United States late in 2013. “What we are doing with the 918 Spyder is redefining driving fun, efficiency and performance,” Wolfgang Hatz, Member of the Executive Board Research and Development at Porsche said.

Toyota introduces Nintendo DS-controlled vehicle
navigation system

Toyota has introduced a new navigational system in Japan that uses a Nintendo DS as its remote control. Basically it works with Toyota’s new Smart Navi system, using a DS cartridge that can connect to the system via Bluetooth. Dubbed as Kuruma de DS, the system allows passengers to use the Nintendo DS to input destinations, view maps and even sightseeing info. Passengers can also save places on the Nintendo DS as well. Sonic 4: Episode II now available for Tegra 3

You can probably remember that we wrote to you about the coming of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 on Tegra-powered devices last year. Our team even played the game on a Tegra 3-powered Asus Transformer Prime at the Mobile World Congress in February this year. But while that has been exciting, the game hadn’t been really released yet, especially for handsets.

But today is the day. SEGA has officially launched Sonic 4: Episode II on the Tegra 3 featuring multiplayer action and graphics-boosting optimizations. “To properly welcome the hedgehog back to the world of gaming, SEGA worked with NVIDIA to create an Android game with the kind of graphics chops usually found only on consoles,” NVIDIA said. Today, Google is introducing a few changes in Gmail which include quick access to contact details when viewing past conversations, as well as an improved integration with Google+ circles. Let’s get down into the details. Today’s update will give Gmail users rich contact information when searching for an email address on their contact list.

If previous email address searches have brought up relevant email messages, the search results will now show you the contact details in addition to the contact’s profile photo and previous emails sent from and to them. Google said that users can also start a chat or initiate a call from the searches. And since the Google+ integration has been improved, any changes made on a specific contact’s Google+ profile will be reflected in the searches as well. (more…)
