Toilet gets Windows experience

Toilet gets Windows experienceWe know that April Fool's Day is a good three months away from now, but the eToilet is good for a laugh for those who are having a hard day at work. This new toilet is said to come with multi-faceted abilities such as playing music from Zune and surfing the Web, doing it while monitoring your personal hygiene levels. Features of the eToilet also include a 21" flat screen display and a proximity sensor that prevents your display from getting sprayed during use or flushing. It would have been more fun to replace the "Start" button with a "Finish" one once you're done with your "business", but I guess such oversights are often present in prank posts.

Laptop case charged by sun

Laptop case charged by sunYou know how solar power is one of the main forms of renewable energy which humans have learnt to harness, and Eclipse Solar Gear has made a solar-powered notebook case that is capable of juicing up your notebook within while toting the case around. Of course, the versatility of this product isn't just limited to your notebook but to smaller electronic items as well. Too bad it looks too rigid and ugly to carry around as a stylish piece of technology, but hopefully future iterations will see the necessary modifications to the design. While waiting for this to hit the mass consumer market, why not check out their solar-powered backpacks.

Apple TV contains relics

Apple TV contains relics

The Apple TV might have been announced just last week, but taking it apart will reveal nothing more than a device that uses technology which used to be cutting edge a few years back.Seriously, what can one expect in a $299 device? The Apple TV is said to pack an Intel Pentium M-based 1.0GHz processor as well as a 40GB hard drive. Video decoding is aided by the presence of a 64MB video card used in mid-range notebook systems, while total system memory maxes out at a mere 256MB. There really shouldn't be any reason to mope about the relative age of the Apple TV's innards as long as it performs up to your satisfaction.

Vaio TP1 comes in weird shape

Vaio TP1 comes in weird shape
Sony VAIO notebooks often come with commercially appealing designs, although they might not necessarily place function over form all the time. The new TP1 Vaio definitely looks different from the rest as it comes in a round shape which can be stacked on other components such as a DVD player or even a TV tuner. Technical specifications of the TP1 includes a choice of processors - the Core 2 Duo T2700 or a Celeron M430, 1 or 2GB of RAM, and hard drive capacities that range from 160GB to 500GB. Hopefully nobody mistakes the TP1 as a coaster the next time they drop by your pad. There is no word on pricing or availability.

Geekfoolery Compares New Apples to Old Apples

Mr. Alex compares new apples to old apples after Apple Computer, Inc. launches their iPhone. So the question is... does Mr. Alex think the iPhone is worth owning? <>I read an article about Steve Jobs in a news magazine about a year or so ago that asked the question, ?What kind of technical gadgets does the world?s most demanding designer of technical gadgets buy?? The article described the man in the black turtleneck visiting a cell phone store, looking over their wares, no doubt unable to stop wondering why the hell that feature was implemented that way, and why do I have to do this when I want to do that, and what is that button doing there? It is like forcing a world-class chef to have the potato skins (loaded) at the Burger Basket at the strip mall.Read the article on Geekfoolery.

Interview with Best Buy CTO @ CES 2007

I first met Bob Anderson, the CTO of Best Buy, while working with Sling Media. While there it was quite apparent that he’s a pretty sharp guy when it comes to consumers and technology products. We spent about 45 minutes walking the CES show floor (Central Hall) and chatted about gadgets and the like. [...]
