Lenovo experiences slow growth, but sees profit
up by 30%

Lenovo logo If you want to make big amounts of money in life, then run a business and not charity. Since Lenovo is ultimately a business entity, it makes perfect sense to have its accountants make a scramble each quarter to make sure the figures released would not anger their shareholders, so the latest figures released would put a smile on the faces of its investors, as the Lenovo Group announced a quarterly profit that increased 30% on the back of strong sales in developing markets, although the organization did experience slower growth in the midst of global economic weakness.

Lenovo is the second-largest personal computer maker in the world, having earned $144 million in the three months that ended on June 30th, where these came about from $8 billion worth of global sales. The profit growth rate dropped from the previous quarter’s 59% increase, but at least it was still turning a profit, which is always a good thing in such economic climates.

Check out this cute little Lego Submarine in action in the video above, and you will be left scratching your head and wondering just how the entire thing was built from scratch. Aren’t Lego pieces, while being able to interlock with one another, do not exactly offer a waterproof and watertight solution? I mean, you can reconstruct the Titanic’s hull from nothing but Lego bricks, and she need not hit an iceberg to submerge to the depths of the ocean. Still, Lego builder “Brane” managed to discover a way of creating a Lego submarine which is fully capable of navigating through an aquarium, but gave no promises of it being watertight. What made it more attractive was the fact that you could control this remotely using an Xbox controller, sporting an underwater time of approximately 20 minutes. If only Batman had one of these submarines as part of his arsenal…

Google Play Store gift cards in the pipeline

To put things in a nutshell, gift cards make for perfect last minute gifts when you are all out of time and ideas. After all, it is somewhat close to giving cold, hard cash to the recipient, except that gift cards can only be spent at the store where the gift card is affiliated to. Word has it that Google is working on the latest v3.8.15 update to the Play Store app, where alongside a bunch of minor user interface changes, there are whispers of Play Store gift cards being implemented in the future after some of the more curious folk out there decided to dissect the APK file.

Right now, the gift cards will not be able to be used as they remain inaccessible to the user, but the future will see you being able to enter a gift card code while redeeming the amount on content that you would specifically like. Not only that, Google has also introduced a balance amount in your account when they began to be generous with a $25 payout for each Nexus 7 buyer so that they can blow this on the Play Store.

Samsung Galaxy Note goes beyond the 10 million
sales mark

Hmmm, is 10 million the new magical number that I am not aware of? Well, the Samsung Galaxy Note has just passed the 10 million mark in terms of sales globally, which is nearly similar to the number of Galaxy S3 units sold around the globe as well. This bit of news should not come across as surprising, considering how the Galaxy Note from Samsung can be considered to be the first “phablet” from Samsung which ought to gain it some mileage of sorts in order to get ahead of the competition. Originally debuting in October last year (that would make the Galaxy Note nearly a year old already) in Europe before arriving in the US this February, the Galaxy Note holds the title of being the first 5″ smartphone that proved to be commercially successful.
