The Game Boy Skin for a variety of BlackBerry models are now available, retailing for just $8.95 a pop. Supported BlackBerry models include the Blackberry Bold 9000, Blackberry Bold 9650, Blackberry Bold 9700, Blackberry Bold 9780, Blackberry Bold 9900, Blackberry Bold 9930, Blackberry Curve 8520, Blackberry Curve 8530, Blackberry Curve 8900, Blackberry Curve 9300, Blackberry Curve 9330, Blackberry Curve 9350, Blackberry Curve 9360, Blackberry Curve 9370, Blackberry Curve 9930, Blackberry Torch 9800, Blackberry Torch 9810, and the Blackberry Torch 9850, where you will need to specify just which BlackBerry you would like the skin to fit when you checkout. The skin is said to bring some retro flair to your smartphone without adding any additional bulk, while delivering protection from minor surface scratches.

Custom Bloody Xbox 360 Controller

Halloween’s still a long, long time away, but that does not mean you cannot start dressing up your favorite home console in blood – with the hand-airbrushed Bloody Xbox 360 controller from ProModz. It looks downright dirty from the get go, and you might even start to wonder whether all that splattered gore and blood are real, but once you have been sucked into whatever game that masters your attention at that point in time, it does not matter any more. Both Left and Right Triggers have also been bloodied to the maximum, making this a masterpiece even when you do not happen to get some gaming time in. Apart from a paint job, Raging Red and White Widow LEDs have also been installed for added effect, while you can top it up with more dough for the optional 8-Mode Stealth Rapid Fire. ProModz even threw in a new sweat-proof controller coating to keep this gaming peripheral masterpiece looking as new as possible. You will have to hand over a handsome $159 for this paint job though.

iPad 3 sports LTE support, quad core processor
and Retina Display

You need not own a gypsy’s crystal ball or one of Saruman’s palantirs to know that the Apple iPad 3 is going to be a hit when it arrives, and hopefully when it makes its way to China, there will not be any scuffles that break out. Word on the street has it that the iPad 3 has already started to enter production, with Bloomberg reporting that Apple’s manufacturing partners will be working at full capacity by February before a March launch of the tablet. Some folks have claimed that the iPad 3 will be the best iPad yet, sporting a quad-core processor, a Retina Display as well as 4G LTE support. It would be interesting to see how all of that are crammed in without causing a dent to one of the iPad’s traditionally strong points – its battery life. (more…)

Sony high-speed SD memory cards

[CES 2012] Amidst all the Smart TVs, digital cameras, camcorders and the Crystal LED Display that were paraded at the recently concluded CES, something as small as an SD memory card got lost in translation, but thankfully we managed to pick up word on this after all the dust had settled. Sony has expanded its family of SD memory cards with a new flagship series that were specially designed for ultra-high speed interface (UHS-I) compatibility, paving the way for DSLR users to experience superb speed and high performance. The new cards will come in varying capacities of 32GB (SF-32UX), 16GB (SF-16UX) and 8GB (SF-8UX). (more…)

[CES 2012] CES 2012 saw Sony announce an improvement in their MicroVault range, where the new models that comprise USM-Q, USM-P and USM-M will include the entire spectrum of users, ranging from those who want ultra-fast, high performance to a more modern, stylish, and easy-to-use model. After all, different strokes for different folks apply here, so there is no need for all storage devices to function the same way, according to Viviano Cantu, Director of Consumer Media for Sony Electronics. iPhone 4S without camera in Singapore

An iPhone 4S without a camera? No, you did not wake up in a parallel universe, and neither did the folks at Apple go nuts with their design, but rather, the military in the city-state of Singapore has this niggling rule that prevents their personnel from owning smartphones with a camera (for obvious national security reasons, of course). Servicemen who own smartphones will need to show a certificate that their device has already been altered and tinkered with by one of the local carriers so that photos cannot be taken. To get the ball rolling, M1 of Singapore has already rolled out an iPhone 4S that has no camera. (more…)

White Galaxy Nexus spotted

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first smartphone from the Android stable to feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and in order to keep up with the times, there will be a white colored version coming your way. Images of this particular model has already been spotted, and only the back and sides of the smartphone will come in white, while the front retains its black shade just like on the original. It seems that the pale version of the Galaxy Nexus was slated to debut in the UK on February 6th at first, but there are whispers going around that this particular date will not happen, with availability being pushed back by a whole month.

Apart from the cosmetic changes on the outside, everything else inside remains the same as the original titanium silver model. The white colored version of the Galaxy Nexus will be a GSM unit, which means there will not be any LTE radio and CDMA support. Will it arrive Stateside eventually? Only time will tell.

Droid RAZR MAXX hits Verizon on January 26th

Motorola took advantage of CES 2012 to announce a spanking new smartphone that further strengthens the Droid RAZR line with the extremely sleek Droid RAZR MAXX, and while there was no word on pricing or availability on the CES showfloor, the proverbial cat’s out of the bag at this moment – as Motorola has gone ahead to state January 26th as the date you will need to mark on your respective calendars if you want to bring home a little bit of Droid RAZR MAXX goodness – via Verizon Wireless, of course. The specifications page is the only one that shows off the January 26th release date, as all the other parts point towards ?available soon? according to Androidandme, but when I headed there, there was no January 26th in sight. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
show up in white

Someone, somewhere in Vietnam has had access to white colored versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, and just before you sit up and ask, “Hey! There are already white colored versions of those tablets in the market, so what’s new about these?”, bear with me for a little while. These are all new models, where you will find a white bezel instead of a black bezel around the display on current white models in the market. Apart from the slight change in color on the outside, everything else within both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus do seem to be the same. There is no word on pricing or availability, so it remains to be seen whether this will cost a wee bit more because of a cosmetic change. One thing we do know is this – Vietnam’s one of the places to go to if you want more information on leaked handsets and gizmos!

Windows Phone Skype app going gold soon

[CES 2012] It seems that Microsoft’s Windows Phone Skype app is well on its way to being gold, as Skype’s VP of products, Rick Osterloh, recently revealed that Microsoft’s Skype division is “working on a Windows Phone product that will be coming out soon.” This was let loose from his lips during an interview at the recently concluded CES 2012, and with Microsoft being tight lipped over the detail of its Skype plans, this is as much as as have to work with. you can always check out the interview right after the jump, and with Mobile World Congress happening next month, we do look forward to a formal announcement then.
