White iPhone 4 spotted in leaked Verizon
inventory listing

Verizon inventory listing

After months of false hopes, countless leaks, and tormenting teases ? the white iPhone 4 will finally make its way into the hands of consumers. The legendary white iPhone 4 has somehow managed to find its way out of its fantasy world and into ours. Earlier today, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple had confirmed that the white iPhone 4 will be arriving this spring. Well since the end of spring isn’t too far away, we figured the wait wouldn’t be too long. And now, the folks over at 9 to 5 Mac have managed to score some exclusive snapshots of Verizon’s inventory.

The pictures show a list of Apple products in their inventory, and while it doesn’t specifically state that a white iPhone 4 is arriving, the model numbers tell everything. Looking at the iPad 2 tablets, you can see that there are two models with the same name, but their model numbers differ by one digit, which obviously refer to the black and white models of the iPad 2. In the circled area that shows the product with an unknown name, it has the same model number as the iPhone 4 except that it differs by a single digit ? just like the iPad 2. This trend occurs for both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the iPhone 4. So unless this is some sort of error in the inventory system or Verizon’s way of playing a joke on us ? you can expect the white iPhone 4 to arrive anytime now.

Mom gets 10 years in prison for playing a
Facebook game and neglecting her drowning baby

Cafe WorldA woman from Colorado has been sentenced to serve 10 years in prison for the death of her 13-month-old son due to neglect. Her reason? She was playing Café World on Facebook while she left him to bathe on his own for 10 minutes. The boy died of drowning. The woman told the court that she normally left her kid to bathe on his own as she wanted him to be an independent child and not be a mama’s boy. But to leave a kid who is barely one year old on his own in the toilet is never a smart move regardless of what you’re trying to teach him ? he’s probably not old enough to understand what’s going on in the first place. Regardless, now she’s going to have to live with the fact that her negligence killed her own son ? a punishment that’s probably worse than prison itself. What do you think of the 10 year sentence she has to serve in jail?

Silverlight works on Android

Silverlight on Android

At the recent MIX11 conference, there was even the presence of Android at the Microsoft event, but it wasn’t there to steal the limelight away from the Redmond giants. The folks who were behind the port for Silverlight to Linux have managed to port Microsoft’s application framework over to the Android operating system. This means that in the future, we’ll be able to run Silverlight content on our Android devices. This means Silverlight videos and games or apps in addition to the Flash content that Android can view. It’s still in the works right now, but when developers go full steam ahead with Silverlight apps later this year (especially when Windows Phone 7 supports it), you can expect to run those apps on Android as well. Hit the break to watch a demo video of Silverlight on a Motorola Xoom Android tablet:

Hinge: the eco-friendly iPad stand

Hinge

If there’s one thing we like seeing all the time, it’s a product that’s green. White not entirely innovative, this Kickstarter project called Hinge for the iPad 1 + 2 did pique our interest. It is a simple, yet elegantly designed versatile stand for everybody’s favorite iOS tablet. The Hinge lets users view their iPad tablets at any viewing angle they like, depending on what they are doing. From reading, typing, writing, to watching movies, the hinge lets you do all that. The best part of the Hinge is that it’s eco friendly ? the stand is made from recycled polypropylene or harvested birch and high grade leather, depending on which model you choose. When not in use, it folds up easily and stays shut (thanks to its magnets); which to make it easy to bring around. But here’s the kicker ? the Hinge is not available for sale yet and it won’t ever make its way out of the prototype stage if its creators don’t get the funding to kick start the project. They’re still way off the mark from reaching their intended target, so if you’re interested in getting one of these nifty stands head over to the Hinge Kickstarter page, pledge and let your friends know about it.

University study finds Pokewalker is one really
accurate pedometer

This is surprising news! Researchers at Iowa State University compared Nintendo’s Pokemom HeartGold and SoulSilver pedometer (included with every copy of the game) with two other similar step counters and found out it was actually the most accurate one of the bunch.

Presented at an experimental biology conference by Professor Lorraine Lanningham-Foster who’s been studying the pedometer and its effects on encouraging kids to exercise and participate in physical activities, the pedometer came out on top in terms of counting accurate steps on a treadmill set at four different speeds.

We know that Nintendo is an innovative company, but who knew its Pokewalker was more than meets the eye? What about that Pikachu G/S walker nanopet/Tamgotchi thingy from back in the GBC Pokemon Gold and Silver days? I’m not going to lie, I had one of those things and racking up steps on that thing to turn into “mystery gifts” to transfer over to the GBC Pokemon games was addictive!

Hm. This has me really curious now. Since the Nintendo 3DS has a built-in pedometer, how accurate is that one up against the Pokewalker?

Skype for Android vulnerability exposes your
details and chat logs

SkypwnedIf you’re one of the 10 million Skype users that use the app on your Android phone, you should be careful. Android Police recently took the app apart and realized how easy it was to extract data from the app. Your username, profile and contacts ? all your information that is shared with Skype in addition to your chat logs can be easily extracted due from the app itself due to its unprotected database. Fortunately, no malicious apps that take advantage of this vulnerability have been made known yet, and Skype has acknowledged the problem and are working on a fix. So while you still have Skype on your phone, be wary of whatever apps you install lest your private details and chat logs get leaked online. Head over to Android Police for the full exposé.
